“If Ukraine wants to hang onto these regions, it had better be prepared to start killing a handful every single day.”
Sick.
Secondly, you mean the Kiev regime, not “Ukraine.”
You switch from “regions” to people, as if the Kiev gov’t owns these people in Eastern Ukraine. Are those in Kiev their slave masters?
I don’t care for thug Putin, but the thug Kiev gov’t isn’t any better.
Except that KIEV is the legitimate government.
Putin has no legitimate standing in the Ukraine.
That's the nature of defending a nation's sovereign territory. Enemy troops have to be killed, preferably in large enough numbers to convince them that the cost is greater than the benefit. In the run-up to the Winter War, the Finns ended up killing over 100K Russian troops and allying with Hitler to keep the Russians out. We allied with the mass-murdering Russians during WWII, so perhaps helping Ukraine keep the Russian empire at bay via material aid is our chance to atone for our sins of commission back then. However, until Ukraine shows it's got the fighting spirit to whittle the Red Army down, aid should only be cautiously doled out, lest it be handed to the Russians in an ensuing surrender.
