Eleanor Clift: Chris Stevens Not Murdered, Died of Smoke Inhalation; Blames YouTube Video

On this weekend’s “The McLaughlin Group,” Daily Beast columnist Eleanor Clift laid out the same reasoning for the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi as Bill Maher had on Friday, which was to still blame the now infamous YouTube video.

I suspect the proximate cause of death for many who died in the original 9/11 attacks was smoke inhalation, but if may suspicion is correct, it does not change the fact they were murdered or died in an act of war by non-state actors. Likewise should Ms. Clift somehow be proven correct as to the proximate cause of Amb. Stevens’ death, it would not change the fact he was murdered or died in an act of war by non-state actors.

The latter view as an act of war, rather than murder, justifies not seeking to bring his killers to trial, just bombing, shelling or shooting them and their sponsors, while the former suggests a legal proceeding against them would be more appropriate — I think most FReepers incline to the latter view upon sober consideration, despite liking to say the victims in Benghazi (and in Washington, New York and Shanksville) were murdered, for rhetorical effect.

I remember her comments when it became clear that Clinton was lying and Monica Lewinsky was telling the truth. She continued to defend Clinton, saying that ‘powerful men had advanced sexual appetites’. Unbelievable. This is just more of the same from her.
