Senator Rand Paul broke with fellow Republicans by saying that the focus on stricter voting laws to crack down on fraud alienates African-Americans and hurts the party.
Everybodys gone completely crazy on this voter ID thing, Mr. Paul said in an interview. I think its wrong for Republicans to go too crazy on this issue because its offending people. ... The bigger issue actually is whether you get to vote if you have a felony conviction, he said. Theres 180,000 people in Kentucky who cant vote. And I dont know the racial breakdown, but its probably more black than white because theyre convicted felons. And Im for getting their right to vote back, which is a much bigger deal than showing your drivers license. ... Mr. Paul becomes the most prominent member of his party and among the very few to distance himself from the voting restrictions and the campaign for their passage in states under Republican control, including North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin, that can determine presidential elections. Civil rights groups call the laws a transparent effort to depress black turnout.

I really like Rand Paul because he stands up agains’t the police state and fights for our personal freedoms. That being said I’m coming to believe he will serve America better in the Senate and someone else should probably be President.
Blacks already vote for the Democrat party in the order of 90%. You don't fix that by becoming Democrat light. You fix that by convincing EVERYONE that conservative principles are best for them. Voter fraud is not good for anyone except crooked politicians.
Forget about this crackpot. I have heard enough of this idiot. If elected he will be GWB the second.
I totally disagree, but maybe it’s because I’m from FL.
The big issue here is people who vote in two states, or the dead voting. They vote at home and then they vote here. Two places. That’s why FL is a swing state. When we tried to clean up the voting rolls the St Pete Times superlib paper went nuts, ran down the lists until it found a legitmate voter disenfranchised, and went crazy on the story.
But I can tell you any number of folk who keep getting absentee ballots for folks who have been dead a very long time. These dead folks vote forever.
My friend actually had to go submit proof her dad had been dead for years before they finally stopped sending a ballot to her house every year.
And it’s a fine art, the way Dem workers canvas the nursing homes. I STILL REMEMBER (would LOVE to have that clip!) of after George Bush’s contested election, a local newscast of a VERY elderly transient type man saying, “I punched the second hole! That’s what I always do, Punch the second hole like I’m supposed to!”
Attention Paulbots: There’s a vacation special just for you.
The mothership is ready for you now.
Pack and leave now.
PLEASE!
Two strikes on Rand Paul:
1. Pro-amnesty or wishy-washy at best
2. Anti voter id; not interested in protecting the integrity of electoral system; also wants to give felons the right to vote — bad idea. I do think that the penal system should be reformed where certain felonies can be expunged from the record after a certain period of good behavior. Australia expunges certain records after 10 years of good behavior. I think that is a good idea. However, I do not believe in giving unreconstructed felons the right to vote.
There isn't any. This is a blatant move to ensure vote fraud (and voter disenfranchisement) remain SOP.
sounds like the republicans and dems have cut a backroom deal.
The senate takeover with no tossups is now at 50d/50r.
iow no takeover.
Did any of you really believe that the powers behind the throne would give up control of trillion$ without a war?
This guy’s got a plan to win...He might succeed...
Can some Rand Paul supporter out there please enlighten me on this.
Yesterday I thought I read right here on this board, that Rand Paul was for tighter immigration restrictions.
Now today I am hearing (I believe) exactly the opposite.
Maybe I just misinterpreted one of those times.
Please explain. Is Paul for tightening our immigration, or loosening our immigration?
Thank you.
Following in the footsteps of Marco Rubio!
(1) I doubt Rand Paul wants to allow dead folks to vote. I’d like to hear his solution to the “zombie-voter” problem....
(2) IMHO, the question of “Should felons vote?” might consider rewarding former felons who have truly turned their lives around.
Why shouldn’t these minorities be requiered to have a real I.D. Card to vote?I’m requiered by Federal Law to provide an I.D. Each and every time I purchase a pack of Claritin anti allergy medication. So the D.E.A. Knows if I’m creating Methamphetimine.
I Think these A-Holes can at least spend a little time and get a free I.D. Card thereby protecting the validity of the voting system.
If you can't bear the consequences, don't do the crime!
Or change the freakin' laws!
It's not rocket science.
And that's a problem because...?
If these parasites can travel to get free food (on my dime) free housing (also on my dime) why can't they get a proper ID to vote (also on my dime?)
It's negative cultural thing.
Read "The Uncivil War" by Taleeb Starkes.
I am probably not allowed to share the book's subtitle...
The libertarians have temporarily gone silent on Rand Paul, they haven’t mentioned him for days.
The next decent article on him though, the Paul cult will reemerge.
nor electable
Daddy Gadfly always seemed more interested in embarrassing the Republican party than he did in winning.
