Also interesting that papers don't pay editors to proof read their stories anymore.
I think you’re right. You can’t tell jack from this poorly written and researched story.
This article is BS, and promotes ignorance of the law. TREK is doing nothing different than tens of thousands of S-corporations owned by Conservatives have done for years, including mine.
Wise up, people.
Agree also.
I have no problem with closely held businesses avoiding the double taxation on corporate profits and reducing the tax burden by using the “s” election, but when it’s a liberal, who advocates higher taxes on everyone else, then it’s hypocrisy.
There's my experience prior to my kid's interest.
Call in Feudal Lord Reids’s Raiders!
And if they're getting them legally then shouldn't a prudent business take advantage of those too?
The company doesnt pay but the owners do. Whats the big deal?
They avoid double taxation like most family businesses do.
I’d be more interested if they had schemes to pay owner/managers a salary that was below the Social Security threshold, so that they avoided SS taxes by taking distributions of profits instead of salary. Everybody does that, too, but it looks bad if the numbers aren’t reasonable.
I am upset with the giving, not the getting.
Sounds to me like they have done nothing wrong. It looks like Fox 6 and the Republicans are searching for something, anything in order to have a scandal or maybe a corruption issue. Shame on them.
As for the “overpriced” Trek bike. No one is forced to buy them.
Non story.
You are correct in that...however..the SubS statute ( at the federal level was designed to help NEW businesses..in that losses could be deducted against other current income..to help the owners of the start-up..with the expectation that in a few years it would change to regular corporate status. A new business may well have losses for several years...as a regular corp they can’t don anything with them except carry them forward...they are in that sense worthless to the new venture..
That’s a funny cartoon.
This cannot be true. Wealthy corporations are always rich white republicans.
Please don’t tell me you’re looking for intellectual honesty here on FR. Imagine the hue and cry from the same FReepers if the legislature tried to CLOSE the “loophole”.
:: According to the records, Trek files under Subchapter S of the tax code, which enables the company to avoid corporate taxes and pay as individuals at a lower rate. ::
I hope Walker doesn’t make big deal out of this; it is a non-starter. Subchapter S businesses are owned by Dhimmicrats and Pubbies alike and are specifically chartered as “S-Corp” for tax reasons.
Make her defend it in the court of public opinion, right or wrong!!
As I recall, we learned here that General Electric paid no federal income tax, for several years.
If there is no income, there is no tax.
Everybody needs at least one corporation
(Thanks!)
