Despicable Romney, as POTUS, would have been an absolute disaster for many reasons and, since he would have been posing and posturing as a "Republican" he would have been worse.

Mittens the Despicable would have:

1. been searching for brainless Snobbican social revolutionaries with law degrees to appoint to every federal judicial position in the land (it was "Republican" POTUSes who appointed John Paul Stevens, William Brennan, Earl Warren, Herod Blackmun, Potter Stewart, Sandra Day O'Connor, Lewis Powell, and most of the trash at lower levels who have been busily cramming baby-killing and "gay""marriage" and "gay" everything else down our throats in courts throughout the land without any shred of "constitutional" excuse);

2. been thus formalizing the permanent "Republican" surrender on these vital social issues, leading to more gummint skewel textbooks teaching the young 'uns of the glories of Heather Has Two Mommies and Daddy's Roommate pr Aunt Maisie is a dog lover in more ways trhat one or whatever next year's trend may be;

3. been spreading the notion of gummint skewel "medical clinics" to take pregnant little Susie off to her abortions without all that messy parental consent or even knowledge;

4. getting the gun grabbing going in earnest, surrendering on yet another vital issue and slicing up the Second Amendment while placing a Republican label on the surrender;

5. seeing to it that the GOP is no longer pro-military. After all, if generations of Romneys could avoid military service in Spanish American War, WW I, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War I and Gulf War II, and Afghanistan, you could certainly expect Mittens to be just as feckless in American military policy as he has been (along with the rest of his family) in his personal life. As long as invaders leave La Jolla alone, why waste money ($$$ almighty) fighting them;

6. seeing to it that the GOP lives up to the stereotype of being nothing more than a crop of thin-lipped bankers and money obsessives with green eyeshades and sleeve garters who will sell what passes for their souls to protect Muffy's trust fund. Thurston Howell will be the new icon of the GOP replacing that distressingly working class Ronaldus Maximus;

7. proven conclusively unprincipled Mittens the Braindead was responsible for Romneycare in Taxachusetts and then sent his Romneycare technocrats to Obozo to help formulate Obozocare. Mittens was the grandfather of Obozocare and could not use that issue against Obozo;

8. never used against Obozo the fact that Obozo is a spineless wimp or worse on foreign affairs since Romney (anything named Romney) believes that peace at any price is just sensible business. Refused to bring up Benghazi in the debates, did he not?;

9. converted the "GOP" into a party of brain dead polo players, fox hunters (Tally Ho!), tiddly wink players and yachtsmen and thus a a permanent door mat for his Demonrat superiors;

10. caused the nation, and particularly actual Republicans to be in a perpetual state of projectile vomiting at the mention of the word "Republican."

That is just ten reasons to reject Romney or anything vaguely resembling his. More available on request.

I am ashamed to say that I voted for the GOP in the presidential elections of 1968, 1972, 1976, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2008, and 2012. I am not ashamed to have voted for Ronaldus Maximus twice and Dubya twice (close question on Dubya in retrospect). The GOP will only get my vote, at any level and for any office, when it EARNS my vote the old-fashioned way by nominating a suitably hard core conservative candidate. If not, oh well.....! I don't give a crap what the Demonrats nominate and I will not be moved by apocalyptic nonsense and boogey man stories as to the alleged consequences of failing to elect the latest mushball Percival Worthlessness as a "Republican" POTUS.

Mittens is going to try and run again.
And likely the GOP elite will force him down our throats again like they did last time, or force us to have another RINO squish.

I don’t dispute one thing you said, but I will extrapolate from it.

Romney reflects the general views of the Republican nomenklatura. Efforts to displace them -will- prove futile, as time has shown and WILL show resoundingly in 2016. Accordingly, if one will not support the individual Romney, WHY continue to support the hivemind Republican Party whose leadership consensus is indistinguishable from Romney?

Romney WAS Obama in argyle.

Outrageous that Muffie could ever get near enough to a Republican ballot to hold one, nevermind be on it!

A six foot waif, with a stretched sock for a spine, he even looked like his conscience was on fire trying to speak as a moral and social conservative. (Which got him in the end, I believe.)

I don’t know why he had no core, but he was no social conservative, nor moral. He laid out the TEMPLATE in MA for every anti-American, anti-family, anti-religious liberty idea Obama ever had. Open to gay marriage, Romney forced abortion coverage onto the Catholic Church, and socialized health care.

There is no intellectual room anywhere for anyone to claim he wasn’t then, and certainly is now, anything but a full blown socialist, retrobate.

I’d say now, that his inner Charlie Christ is in full flaming bloom.

Thanks for the rant. Rita

Wow -- OUTTA THE PARK!! Great post!

8. never used against Obozo the fact that Obozo is a spineless wimp or worse on foreign affairs since Romney (anything named Romney) believes that peace at any price is just sensible business. Refused to bring up Benghazi in the debates, did he not?;

Just ... BRAVO!!!!!!!!

The bottom line, from a place of pure pragmatism, is: If Mitt Romney is a "Republican," what the hell is Republican? Is what Ted Cruz has called for a number of times now, that the next president should act to overturn ALL of Obama's lawless acts -- is that Republican? I wish! But then there are Republicans who shield and protect Obama. They're also Republican.

What's Republican, if Mitt Romney belongs in the party? For minimum wage, or agin' it? Me, I'm agin' it. Am I a Republican? Must not be, because Romney is all for the Minimum Wage. Me, I hold minimum wage responsible for a number of ills afflicting America, from teen unemployment to illegal immigration, not to mention way fewer jobs.

So ... what's Republican? If it's Romney, "Republican" is going to hell.
