The office of the speaker of the House released this list of members chosen for the Benghazi Select Committee:
WASHINGTON, DC House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today named the seven Republican members of the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. The Select Committee also provides for five Democratic members, and those names will be released when provided by the House Minority Leader. Boehner issued the following statement:
This investigation is about getting answers for the families of the victims and for the American people. These members have each demonstrated a commitment to this goal, and I have confidence that they will lead a serious, fact-based inquiry. As I have expressed to each of them, I expect this committee to carry out an investigation worthy of the American lives lost in Benghazi. I also urge my Democratic colleagues to treat this tragedy with the proper respect and appoint members so that we can finally, on a bipartisan basis, get answers, provide accountability, and help deliver justice. It is critical that this committee do its work in a focused, timely manner, so that the House can continue to make the economy and job creation its priorities.
The Republican members of the Select Committee will be:
- Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN)
- Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Chairman
- Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)
- Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS)
- Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL)
- Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL)
- Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA)
Gohmert was my second choice to head it up after Trey. This sucks.
“We can bet our bippies that it was chairman TREY GOWDY doing the selecting”
I agree...Boehner probably asked Gowdy for suggestions and it just happened that Boehner agreed. Very tactful. :)
Actually, the democraps don’t have all that much use for handicapped people, though they try not to show it.
There are different ways to discourage and demoralize. I am sure Gowdy expects it from his left. But, from his right or from his own foxhole?
What, exactly, two weeks out from the hearings, do you want to verify? WHAT??
For the love of God, we finally get what we have been asking for, only to hear all this defeatist rhetoric and predictions of failure. Sick of it.
Agreed.
Examples of “Defeatist rhetoric” I posted:
“I am quite sure we all want this to be the real deal. But to give benefit if the doubt casually with their track record? No.”
“I hope they do their job and uphold their oaths. Ill also trust but verify.”
Yup, Nancy would approve I’m sure. why just the other day I heard her say to Hoyer and her gavel, “You know Stenny, am quite sure we all want this to be the real deal. I hope they do their job and uphold their oaths.”
Yup, I am fully on board With the fantasy version Nancy Pelosi and proud of it.
Because I’m into doom and gloom. Now if you want me to pretend that they do not have a track record of stalling things and making excuses, Nope. Not gonna happen.
If he does this with the same skill in which he has conducted our affairs sense becoming speaker, they are sure to ‘find’ that nothing even happened, and they don’t know what happen to the ambassador. Must have ‘gotten lost on a hiking trip’
Just got a FB post from my congressman Todd Young extolling the virtues, qualifications and his support of IN Representative Susan Brooks. Since he too is a lawyer plus an academy grad and marine I value his endorsement.
Boehner’s not running this, Trey Gowdy is. That gives me some optimism that we’ll see results.
Isn't Pompeo something of a RiNO turncoat?
Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) fir sure.
Word is she was very successful in that position and got many convictions.
I'd still feel a lot better if some card-carrying, board-certified conservatives like Tom McClintock and Darrel Issa (both of Callyfoahnyuh) were on it .... and some Texas conservatives who know the Tea Party people who've been getting roughed up by the IRS, guys like Ted Poe (a former federal judge) f'rinstance.
Truth in advocacy, Ted Poe is my congresscritter -- and savior, after Texas state representatives redistricted me into Ted's district and out of Sheila Jackson Lee's. My congressional IQ shot up 140 points in one bound.
Female bashing?
I love women.
As a man...
In my 57 years ....I see women like Secretariat in the Derby 40 years ago.....women in my life are like Secretariat in that race
Everything else is like the rest of the horses....a very distant second place
My greatest joy and pleasure....you can purview my home page for verification that women matter to me....its not something theoretical
But I know pandering when I see it and no I don’t cotton to Palinesque girl power nor feel women are anything special as politicians nor do I feel its wise to have them in combat.
But we live in a make believe reality now where thats all good and kids don’t need mom at home and career beats wifery and women needs validating
And I’m a female basher for seeing all that.
Cool.
Then her nomination to the committee transcends chickery.
Excellent point!
80 is low
I’m sure Marsha Blackburn is much higher....my congressman.
BTW
I was wrong anyhow....note I’m admitting it.....and do that regularly....few here do.
Lynn what’s his name is not a split tail
Only two on the committee are.
And still the sycophants make excuses for him. And show great burning and mighty outrage when we don’t lap up whatever he blathers.
