There’s a difference between the people of a nation overthrowing a corrupt government - and that move being ratified by the nation’s parliament - and having separatists fighting to carve that nation into pieces against the wishes of the ethnic group for which that nation exists.

Ukrainians had every right to rise up against the pro-Russian president and his cronies - just as the Ukrainian parliament agreed after the fact. The Russians have no right to carve up Ukraine against the wishes of the Ukrainians. It’s just that simple.

What gets me is how the same pro-Putinistas here at FR would be denouncing the separatists if they were doing it here in the U.S. If Mexican-Americans decided to separate the southwest from the rest of the U.S.A. and unite it with Mexico after Americans overthrew a pro-Mexican U.S. president, there would be FReepers calling for those Mexican-Americans to be summarily executed in the streets for treason.
