Sixty-nine years after the end of World War II, nearly a third of Austrians would like to have a strong leader (Führer) at the helm of their country who doesnt have to deal with elections and a parliament, according to a new study published on Wednesday in Vienna.
Asked about what Nazi rule from 1938 to 1945 had given the country, 36 percent of the 1,015 Austrians surveyed answered both good and bad things while three percent said primarily good things. [ ]
A clear majority of respondents (56 percent) said discussions about the Holocaust and the Second World War should now end. This figure was higher than in previous surveys.

Very few things in this world are all bad. Even with a really psychotic government in place they got highways, VWs, and some serious leaps in technology and medicine. The question isn’t whether or not it was all bad, because the accurate answer to that is always no, the question is did the good out weigh the bad. Which in the case of Nazism would be hell no.
The Nazis were a fanatical subculture that exercised a power out of proportion to their numbers by rebuilding a police State from the top down. It is no exaggeration to point out those tendencies in the current administration and its adherents.

That’s in spite of the government, which means said government didn’t get in the way. Ferdinand Porsche was trying to shop his car design around to pre-existing car companies (one of them being NSU, who turned him down; VW ended up buying out NSU and other companies after the war thanks to the revenue from strong sales of the Type 1 “beetle”). The design was sound enough that it wouldn’t have required government assistance to make it emerge as the “KdF-Wagen”.

The highway project came straight out of the government. The tech advances were driven by the war, so that’s from the government. The medical advances came from experimentation that was part of the final solution, so also government driven.
The ideas (i.e. legitimate, such as the VW and autobahn) did not come from the government, which is my point. The government may have taken over all of them, but they had their genesis in individuals’ work.
Where the ideas come from don’t matter. The government, an evil government, did these things, and they were good things.
Absurd reasoning. The actor is not the originator, and if the government is not good, that does not make their actions good if appropriated from good people.
The originator doesn’t matter when you talking about whether or not what was DONE (an active verb) was good.
Actions are good or bad all by themselves. That was was part of what I said originally, bad people (and governments) can and frequently DO accomplish good deeds.
Saying that excuses all the public works projects that the left has foisted on the USA. Calling anything done by the government “good” is a leftist position.
Were they good projects? Did they accomplish good things? Then who cares if they came from the left or the right, or the government or private enterprise, good things happened. Sometimes government is in a better position to accomplish tasks than private industry. The highway system is a great example of this, it took 50 years to get to basically done (though of course by that point lots of it had aged and needed referbing and expansion), no private industry would have ever done it. There’s no money to be made in making an interstate highway system, but the country is a better place for having one, it adds a layer of freedom to our lives that’s not possible without it.

Saying “who cares (where/from whom it) came from” says a lot about one’s political leanings, and saying “(s)ometimes government is in a better position to accomplish tasks than private industry” says even more about same.
The question about whether the US is a “better place” with the interstate highway system as a public works project is still very much open. The Allies certainly found that the autobahn system made it very easy to penetrate the “Fatherland” with military might; it may be (and not just “may be”) that enemies of the USA already find the same ease with the interstates.
Sorry bub but you’re just off the rails here. Show me who that isn’t a government would construct an interstate highway system. Go ahead. When you can find one then you might have a point, until then you’re just being stupid.
Switching to name-calling says yet more about one’s political leanings. The USA would not have even had a great deal of its initial interstate roadways if not for private turnpikes.
Take a look at the Chicago Skyway just for one. A toll road for ages, it never turned a profit until the former mayor Daley handed it over to private industry.
Plenty of initiative out there to build fully private highways, including providing private capital for same. Merely because the government gets in the way does not mean it’s not out there.
