Basketball Hall-of-Famer Michael Jordan reveals he was racist toward white people when he was growing up.

In a new book entitled “Michael Jordan: The Life,” the six-time NBA champion told author Ronald Lazenby his hatred for white people when he was younger stemmed from the North Carolina community he grew up in having a huge Ku Klux Klan influence.

....“As I started looking at newspapers back in this era when I was putting together Dawson Jordan’s [Michael’s great-grandfather] life, the Klan was like a chamber of commerce. It bought the uniforms for ball teams, it put Bibles in all the schools.

It’s good to see that Michael Jordan still speaks English, rather than Newspeak.

In Newspeak, only whites, and all whites, are “racists” by definition — the Newspeak word “racist” officially being defined as holding racial prejudices while wielding power or benefiting from the combination of racial prejudice and power (so one can involuntarily be a “racist” regardless of what one believes or how one acts) — but this is always applied only to spheres where white people fit the definition and black folks don’t (cf. Zimbabwe, to which the Newspeak definition is never applied lest English speakers notice that it’s not really the definition and that Newspeak “racist” simply means “white person”).

I was raised in Oakland, myself. I’m white, but about half the kids in my schools were black. I was afraid of some of them, but so were most of the black kids. A bad person is a bad person. We had Martin Luter King Jr Birthday off way before it ever became a holiday. Race meant nothing to me or my classmates until puberty hit. Then, it seemed to hang over us...for reasons that no one could really explain. Still, basically everyone was very friendly. Oakland is very good that way....despite what you might read....well west Oakland was no place to go at night, but it’s getting better nowadays.

i can relate... i was raised in San Jose, CA... while the black/white/Latino ratio was not what it was in Oakland, we still had a good mix of race and ethnicity... and yes--once 7th-8th grade came along, kids started breaking off into groups, more or less... it baffled me... i did not really fit into any group... my family was not about La Raza and such... and just about all the black friends i had all through elementary school split off... i ended up hanging out with an ethnically and racially mixed group of nerdy-types--bookworms... i was still friendly with all the others, but just no longer hung out with them...

Michael Jordan is a businessman. Everything he does or states is meant to increase his income. And, as long as everyone is aware of this fact, I have no problem with that.

When you visit Wilmington NC, many of the parks are named after the Democrat leaders that killed and stole the property of free blacks and white Republican/ Fusionist party members.

i do not see anything wrong with his revealing how he felt when he was younger... he out grew it or had a turn about at some point--that's good... i do not get why so many here are asking about party affiliation... he said he was against whites... he probably did not think about party affiliation... especially as a teenager...

"Roots" did more damage to the American psyche than anyone has been willing to admit and the whole story is wrought with fraud and lies. It has been proven over and over again, but still the public believes that story actually happened because a) they'll believe any story they see in a movie (see example 2: "JFK"); and b) Haley went on a Lie Tour after the book and movie came out and continued to perpetrate the fraud. He actually stole a portion of that story from another writer.

Pointing that out is by no means is a defense of slavery. Even some of our founding fathers knew the issue was going to eventually damn this nation. (Read the journals of John Adams for some eye-opening insights from a brilliant man.) That also doesn't mean the incidents depicted in Roots did not happen somewhere. It just means that Haley's story was untrue. And his lies stirred up an entire hornets nest in the 70s that we now see resurfacing with Barack Obama. Who is making money off the unrest this time around? I think we know the answer to that.

No, I didn't imply that you don't read enough. I stated that if you want to say "they left out", you must read the entire work, or at least cite some reliable source who read the entire work.

I neither stated nor implied any such things. I only agreed that the stories that Michael Jordan told about the way the Ku Klux Klan acted during the time of his Great-grandfather might well be true; if Michael Jordan had thoughts about it during his childhood, there is nothing wrong with reporting them truthfully.

I'm white, and I've lived in both black and Chinese areas. Though the black area wasn't quite the hood (that was two blocks west, past Cottage Grove Ave. in Chicago), I certainly took Chicago buses and trains that went through the hood with. I never apologized to anyone for being white. For the record, black people don't equal "the 'hood".

Well, if you are, I certainly never said that you were. You have inferred a number of things that I neither said nor implied. I basically stated that the KKK did some bad things, often under the color of doing good things. I also stated that Michael Jordan is well within his rights to recall his actual memories about things that really happened. We are free to read or not read them.

Whatever. I was born in Rockford IL in 1954.

Perhaps I should write a book about black students robbing white students of their lunch money, blacks bullying whites in schools, intimidating both students and faculty.

Yes, I got in more than a few fistfights with blacks that mistook me for an easy mark, thought I was some suburbian lily white pussy afraid of black people. After a few neccessary ass-kickings administered by me I was left alone. Others were not.

Or, about black activists succeeding in dumbing down curriculum and grading standards, taking over whole school districts and putting other black racists in charge until only about 50% of high school seniors graduate, and those that do could not get a passing grade on an ASVAB test, much less compete in college. (ASVAB tests are administered to all potential recruits by all branches of the US military)

Oh, there is endemic racism in America. It is today and has been in my lifetime nurtured, fertilized and harvested by the Left and by the “victimized” racial “minorities”.

In the end, universally, there will be no rankings based on merit, accomplishment, or intelligence, no grades, nothing. All will be equally ignorant and ill-educated. Some Ivy League Schools, Yale comes to mind, long ago, have abolished anything but pass/fail. I am pretty confident no one fails.

If I misread your response, I apologize for my misunderstanding. After a lifetime of tolerance toward the intolerant among us, I guess I am getting too old and too grumpy to entertain, much less allow, that someone has suggested otherwise regarding me, my life and my experience.

My son-in-law is black and he is dear to me as are his children, which are, of course, my grandchildren.

I do know however that he is constantly being labeled as an “Oreo”, criticised for “acting white” by the crybaby, lacklustre black losers who failed to make it out of high school, much less attain a Masters degree.

All of these whiners sicken me because they all have no excuse, none. You make it or not. Life is hard, man up or shut up. To blame others or society in general, or whites in particular, for one’s epic failure is cowardly, dishonest, and destructive of both society and the individual.

I look to Dr. Ben Carson to heal this cancer of black racism against whites. His mother was illiterate. Ben was not allowed by his mother to be a crybaby.

I went through a period of my life when I was younger where my family was concerned that I was becoming a racist.

I was managing a business in majority black part of town. And the constant ear-beatings from black customers storming in to demand something unreasonable because they were entitled and I was a honky beee-yatch was really starting to affect my thinking.

After awhile I came to realize it was not everyone in the neighborhood who thought this way. Basically the same 2 to 3 dozen idiots kept coming in over and over again.

Jordan’s story is probably not much different.
