Rialto Unified School District called this “an exercise in critical thinking” for eighth-graders… This middle school tasked its eighth-graders to study whether the [Holocaust] worst genocide of the 20th century actually happened, or whether it was a myth designed for “political and monetary gain.” It also sent students to an Australian Holocaust-denier website for one of its principal sources. Anti-Defamation League considered whether Common Core standards are to blame… “ADL does not have any evidence that the assignment was given as part of a larger, insidious, agenda,” the blog post read. “Rather, the district seems to have given the assignment with an intent, although misguided, to meet Common Core standards relating to critical learning skills.” Screen Shot 2014-05-06 at 12.26.19 PM Maybe Common Core isn’t to blame for this one… Mohammad Z. Mohammed Islam, is that what they call the Rialto school superintendent? But praying in school is illegal. Holocaust denial has already reared its ugly head in the schools in the UK, it was only a matter of time before it reached our schools, and what better place than southern California the land of fruits and nuts.( though in all fairness, we have more than our share here in FloriDUH!)

When I was in eighth grade, we turned out to the school gym to listen to an actual Holocaust survivor tell us of what he endured. Any doubts anyone might have had vanished within the first five minutes of listening this man speak of the horrors he endured.

“Land of the fruits and nuts.” is a phrase I often use about CA and it refers to both the agriculture and population. For example: Agriculture; lettuce, figs, almonds. Population; Boxer, Pelosi.
