OK.....we report on a home invasion, and the story invites readers to click on a Google Map showing the EXACT LOCATION??
What, we want this guy to experience five more hot burglaries?
I love that the guy is trying to live a normal college life with his buddies near campus. He’s seems like a really good guy.
Is that Amish country?
Around a year ago a woman and her young daughter moved from Tennessee to start a new chapter in their lives in North Raleigh. The lady was murdered during a home invasion while the child was sleeping. She woke to find her mother dead. Not sure if this case was solved. Horrific.
Woman killed in Raleigh's North Hills had just moved from Tenn.
I live in a rural area with a large university (definitely not Amish country). This same scenario happened a couple of times this past school year. The perpetrators have never been identified and the incidents seem to have been forgotten. The thugs were Amish, and I suspect they were not locals.
This may be a trend. The Amish may have recognized that college students are easy pickings.
I think they may be treating my town as a hunting ground that is worth the drive.
College students are typically unarmed. They are renting for relatively short terms, so they don't have an incentive to invest in home security. There are always new faces in these student neighborhoods, so strangers don't stand out. Also, although they live in crappy rentals, many students come from relatively wealthy backgrounds, so they have nice stuff that is worth stealing.
Easy come, easy go.
Reminds me of a place where I was living 30 yrs. ago where we had a major burglary ring going on.
The burglars were all young people. The youngest worked as paperboys. As such they always knew who was away on vacation. One of their moms was the ringleader and was fencing the stolen goods.
The local paper which covered this story went into extreme levels of detail on precisely how they committed these burglaries. A virtual How To burglary guide!
.........one thing I would add is that my two A & M grads, male and female, would NEVER listen to Dad about being careful and being secure and all those things! They are, you know, invincible!
My daughter, at this minute is in Peru. Unbeknownst to her I am sitting here practically white knuckled until she gets back. Does she know that? Nooooooooooo!!!!
