Before the first Star Wars movie, before Microsoft was founded and before John Paul II became Pope, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., was elected to Congress. And now, after 40 years in the House, Waxman is calling it quits.
But hes not the only one: A whopping 528 years worth of experience is about to walk out the door of the U.S. House of Representatives the most since 1996 and the second-most in at least four decades. Considering the current performance of those 660 years of experience, it’s hard to call this a loss.
“How much air do you suppose ol penstock nostrils has stolen in his 40-odd (and I do mean odd) years in congress?”
That’s easy. Trillions.
That's what I think alright. You can't combine peoples experience, it never works that way. If it did, you could assign calculus problems to a first-grade class as a group project and get the same result that you would from a college math professor.
We coulda used a little more gridlock when ObamaCare was being debated . . .
Gridlock is just a start. How about repeal, revoke, rescind, reverse, overturn, annul, void, invalidate, quash?
660 years voluntarily going home. God willing, that many more can be sent packing in primaries and the general.
Next, the appointees and hirees need to be flushed out with a fire hose.
