During a talk to the U.S. embassy staff in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the first stop on his trip to Africa, Secretary of State John Kerry remarked about what he called the "different cross-currents of modernity" and the challenges they present on the African continent. The comments contain a veiled reference to religion, and the part that religion might be playing in some of the current conflicts in Africa:
This is a time here in Africa where there are a number of different cross-currents of modernity that are coming together to make things even more challenging. Some people believe that people ought to be able to only do what they say they ought to do, or to believe what they say they ought to believe, or live by their interpretation of something that was written down a thousand plus, two thousand years ago. Thats not the way I think most people want to live.
The words "something that was written down a thousand plus, two thousand years ago" appear to refer to the Bible, or the Koran, or perhaps both...

What a loser. Will this guy ever learn to close his mouth?
He assumes that the majority or the population, or “most people”, as he put it don’t want to live like that. What an elitist puke. Just because he has no allegiance to a higher power, he assumes that not many other people do, either.
He’d better be careful. His boss clearly lives by the Koran.
What an Ass! The first sentence seems to me to be a perfect description of liberals, and as far as the violence occurring in Africa, one needs only look the followers of mutthomed, but of course kerrystein would never say that because he only finds fault with Christians and Jews.
His position should have become empty the minute he called for a new intifada
Kerry has no problem lying to the people of Massghanistan claiming to be Catholic because he knows they are unlikely to elect him to anything if he claims to be what he is: an anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, anti-Jewish bigot.

Not the ones our government wants to side with, at any rate:
President Yoweri Museveni has repented his sins and the sins of Uganda as a nation in a move aimed at establishing Uganda as a God-fearing nation. The President made this historic move at Mandela National stadium Namboole in the early morning of today (Tuesday) at 2:00am during national prayers for dedicating Uganda to God. "I denounce witchcraft and satanic practices. I repent on behalf of Uganda. We confess our sins. We repent of the sins of shedding innocent blood, corruption, bribery, sexual immorality, drunkenness, rebellion, insubordination, tribalism and sectarianism," Museveni repented amidst ululations from the Christians. The president dedicated Uganda to God to be his nation anchored on his principles and values. The President, indicating that the next 50 years belong to the young generation, advised the young people to be God-fearing referring to the Biblical verse in Proverbs 9:10 which says, "The fear of God is beginning of wisdom."....The prayers were organized by Uganda Jubilee Network, an association of Anglican, evangelical and Pentecostal churches....
....Rev. Simon Peter Emiau said no matter how many times Ugandans pray, God will not intervene in the affairs of our country without fulfilling the conditions in 2chronicles 7:14 of repenting and turning away from wicked ways. Calling upon church leaders and Christians to repent, Apostle Charles Tumwine attributed the current high level of immorality in the country to the wickedness/darkness in the church arguing that what happens in a nation is usually a replica of the state of the church.

OK John. Who were you named after again?
Change it to Zippy and I’ll understand.
Obama, Kerry, Carter, Biden...
Can these people open their mouth without destroying themselves a little more?
No.
Like all Liberals, he thinks the sum total of all human knowledge has only been amassed since 1968.
Obama may side with muslims but - doubt he is religious. He appears to be a secularist like Kerry. These people worship socialism not God or even Allah.
That is exactly what I was thinking. He just finishes wiping the toe jam off from the last statement and here comes another foot to take its place.
“different cross-currents of modernity”
Who talks like that?
Other than Pinko professors at the local Junior College?
Christianity is growing by leaps and bounds in Africa. In just one country,Kenya, the Anglican Church has grown to well over 4 million communicants - fully immersed in the life of Christ’s church ‘s worship and ministry. I suspect other denominations are doing the same.
The official Anglican in America, The Episcopal Church, has dwindled to less that 2 million.
Just who is this guy Kerry? Those who subscribe to his theories are dying.
“The first sentence seems to me to be a perfect description of liberals..”
I agree entirely.
let’s see....according to Wikipedia this globe currently holds:
2.2 billion Christians
1.6 billion Muslims
1.1 billion Hindus
488 million Buddhists
14 million Jews
That equals 5.4 billion out of a total population of 7 billion.
Looks like “most of us” to me. Do the math, John.
Religion is not about how we "want to live", but about how we should live.
Kerry has a long history of choosing politics and liberalism over his Catholic faith (or lack thereof). He wants the Catholic Church to adapt to Democratic dogma. It is a free choice to be Catholic. It is a free choice to be a Democrat. They are incompatible. He has chosen to be a Democrat.
Dear John,
Just because you are a Godless heathen communist, stop projecting!
As an aside, I can’t wait till Gowdy gets his pompous ass on the stand under oath and he has his ‘ come to Jesus ‘ moment.
