May 05, 2014, 08:37 am GOP midterm edge biggest in 20 years

By Rebecca Shabad

A new poll suggests Republicans have the biggest advantage in a midterm year in two decades.

The Pew/USA Today poll released Monday found 47 percent of registered voters support the Republican candidate in their district or lean Republican. By contrast, 43 percent favor the Democratic candidate or lean Democratic.

Democrats have lost ground on the generic ballot in recent months. Last October, Democrats held a 6-percentage-point lead of 49 to 43 percent. Regardless, they usually need a double-digit lead in order to pick up seats.

President Obama’s approval rating is now lower than at the same point during the 2010 campaign, Pew noted. The GOP later won the majority in the House that November.

While 44 percent approve of Obama’s job as president, half of the public disapproves, the poll found.

Just over half say Obama won’t affect their vote this November. Just over a quarter, meanwhile, see their vote as being against the president rather than the 16 percent who say it will be for Obama.

Less than a third of Democrats see their vote as being for Obama, but 46 percent of Republicans see their vote as being against him.

Nearly two-thirds say they want to see the next president offer different policies and programs than the Obama administration. Less than a third want Obama’s successor to offer a similar agenda.

Despite the GOP’s edge on the generic ballot, only 23 percent approve Republicans’ jobs in Congress and 32 percent approve of Democrats’ jobs.

More people, 43 percent, say GOP policies would do more for the economy, compared to 39 percent who say Obama’s policies are more effective.

The poll was based on 1,501 adults surveyed from April 23 to 27. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Gingrich's contract with America.

Hopefully the TEA party will be more committed to integrity than Newt was.

This gives them plenty of time to screw things up and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

That would truly be a miracle in the Senate. Let’s not get cocky.

Having a GOP controlled Senate creates its own problems.

This gives them plenty of time to screw things up and snatch VICTORY FOR THE OLIGARCHY from the jaws of VICTORY FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

POINTS TO PONDER: the side wanting to avoid a debate is usually the side losing the debate.

His signature legislation "Obamacare" proved to be a blunder of Ceausescuian proportions, yet, Obama unilaterally declared the debate to be “over.” Tone-deaf Obama forgets that:

<><> no political question is ever permanently settled,

<><>Obamacare clone, "Hillary-Care," shoulda been a lesson learned, but Obama stupidly forged ahead,

<><> negative soundings from the grassroots, were prophetic---but loyal Dummycrats sap-happily lock-stepped w/ Obama.

================================================

Amazingly stupid is that the 2014 Democrats are hopping onto the ACA bandwagon---embracing what they claim are ObamaCare's "positives," even though healthcare is a bigger political bomb now than it was when Dems party got shellacked in 2010.

Lock-stepping Democrats face 2014's gale force political headwinds, dissatisfaction in their own ranks, struggling voters living with a dismal economy, the coast-to-coast disgust that Obama is dragging the country in the wrong direction----all surefire losers at the polls.

President Obama is near all-time lows on his approval ratings and was labeled 'political poison' to the party’s candidates. .... being tied to an unpopular president can be a millstone around an eager politician's neck. Democrats want some of Obama's pull, but Obama, himself, should get out of their way.....and stay the hell in Washington.

==================================================

BACKSTORY In 2009, retiring Arkansas Rep. Marion Berry presciently warned that ObamaCare was setting up Democrats for a huge 2010 midterm defeat; just as “HillaryCare” led to Democrat loss of 54 House seats in 1994.

Obama scoffed at such concerns; he told Berry, “Well, the big difference here is you’ve got me.”

SO MUCH FOR O'S EGOTISM 2010 Republicans went on to win 63 House seats and six Senate seats.....the largest swing to Repubs in the House since 1938. So Obama was right---the difference was him. ROTFL.

Onward to 2014-2016.

The makers of Depends must be working triple-overtime shipping all those orders to Capitol Hill and to the DNC.

Even if true - not so much counting on what would a Republican majority do with their "power" - except perhaps "share" it with their Dem buddies.

It's going to take a number of things to make any significant changes:
1. Not a Republican win but a Conservative win.
2. Solid Conservative House leadership.
3. Solid Conservative Senate leadership.
4. Enough Conservative replacements so that a Conservative agenda can be passed with a veto-proof majority in both houses.

To say we can win big is one thing - for us to win big in the right way is the only thing that will make it meaningful.

And this survey was with “adults,” which could be transients lined up outside the welfare office. Add 10 points if they had surveyed “likely voters.”

If so our problem will be the GOP establishment. We get a veto proof Congress we need to reverse Obama’s economic, health care, environmental, and social policies.

Yes it does. That is why we are seeing them purposely trying to mute the enthusiasm and dampen Tea Party/Conservative prospects. I don’t think the “leadership” really want to win big. They want to win just big enough and then push through some of these stupid caves on immigration and such.

Exactly.

I remember when the grifter took office, they fired attorney’s general, all of them, all 50 states.

From the media, not a word of protest. Does anyone believe the media is less complicit than they were in 1992?

Does anyone think the drama over Benghazi was anything other than, well Jay, we have to give you a little spanking, we won’t use the buckle end, when it’s done we can go back to you telling outrageous lies and we will faithfully pen them, broadcast them, and smear anyone who protests otherwise.

Okay bend over now, here comes a little slap with a paint stirrer. Don’t cry, it’s as much as we’ll do.

Wretches.
