Head Of Bloomberg’s Gun Control Group Resigns
GOP the Daily Dose ^ | 5/5/14 | Brian Anderson

It’s been a rough rollout for 2nd Amendment hater Michael Bloomberg’s gun control effort Everytown For Gun Safety. It’s been two weeks since the billionaire announced the group and his personal commitment of $50 million and already he’s lost 2 key members. Five days ago former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge quit and today, Everytown’s president Mark Glaze is resigning.

Glaze, who has been with Bloomberg since 2011 as the head of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, was rather vague as to why he is leaving Everytown just weeks after its formation saying:

“It is time for me to hand off the fight to somebody else. The issue is unbelievably important to me. But it’s a tough issue and a tough grind. And there’s a point where you feel you’ve done all you can do,” he said in an interview with Rueters.

In other words, consistently loosing to the NRA and liberty conscious Americans has worn him out. He realizes that his crusade to disarm the US is a lost cause. He’s done all he can do and that is exactly nothing. You can’t blame him though; sooner or later failure wears everyone down.

He has to know how bad this looks for the gun control group. When the head of an organization walks away for no apparent reason, it casts doubt as to the authenticity of the group and it’s members. This is amplified by the reasons that Tom Ridge cited for his resignation.

Ridge told the Daily Caller that he is “uncomfortable” with the planned political activity of the group.

“When I signed on as an adviser to Everytown, I looked forward to a thoughtful and provocative discussion about the toll gun violence takes on Americans. After consultation with Everytown, I have decided that I am uncomfortable with their expected electoral work,” said Ridge.

Again, we have to read between the lines a little, but it seems clear that Ridge wasn’t buying what Everytown was selling. Like maybe the group’s agenda was less about “common sense” gun control legislation and more about gun confiscation and civilian disarmament.

That point was made painfully obvious when Poughkeepsie, NY Mayor John C. Tkazyik quit Bloomberg’s MAIG in February.

“It did not take long to realize that MAIG’s agenda was much more than ridding felons of illegal guns. Under the guise of helping mayors facing a crime and drug epidemic, MAIG intended to promote confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens,” said Tkazyik.

Followed by last month’s MAIG resignation of Danberry, CT mayor Mark Boughton who said, “As a member of the Connecticut General Assembly, I was a strong supporter of the rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen in Connecticut. This remains my position today.”

The fact is, well over 50 mayors have left MAIG in the past few months. Combine that with the resignations of Ridge and Graze from Everytown and you really have a well-funded movement with no supporters.

Earlier this week I reported that Bloomberg was picking up the tab for “activists” to attend the NRA’s annual convention in Indianapolis. I joked that he had to pay people to give a sh*t about gun control, but now it’s clear that he can’t even do that. Surely there must be some unscrupulous left-winger willing to take Bloomberg’s blood money.

Money can’t buy happiness, love, or apparently a gun control effort.

Those bimbos who run around with Bloomie like so many star-crossed groupies, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, that name sounds too "clumsy". Might I suggest something more catchy, like Moms Ipugning Legal Firearms, or MILF for short ;)

As in all causes...in the original group...there’s some logic and reasoning that makes sense. Greenpeace was that way....various groups like World Wide Fund for Nature, OxFam, EarthWatch, SandWatch, etc....all had some logical purpose in the beginning, and each was taken over within a couple of years (hijacked would be an appropriate word). The Sierra Club has become a club of agenda players....without much on substance.

In this case, Bloomberg’s team will be run mostly into the ground....eating up the $50 million easily over a year or two, and begging for more, or demanding that foundations participate in their game. Go and ask for their meeting notes, then look over how many were brought to town and wined over some weekend for $7000 each at some fancy and swanky hotel. It’s there to exist....mostly to swindle future money from foundations and rich idiots who got tax breaks and now have too much cash on their hands.

I can sympathathize. I despair of people using apostrophes correctly and spelling simple words correctly. A pox on you, Bloomberg.

This is awfully minor but was this in the original: “consistently loosing to the NRA”?

Maybe Bloomberg can hire Chris Christie in his place.
