I honestly don’t think this will hit the courts. I think the NBA will make him a very profitable offer. If they have to fight this, everything about every other owner is going to be exposed for consumption from the masses, including stadium deals that were made with each individual city.

OK, this guy was indeed successful...at being an absolute pig, he made a lot of enemies (it IS apparently possible to be successful AND respected), and it finally caught up with him. And, given his health and age, he won’t be putting up a very long struggle at anything.

I really don’t think that there is anything political in this.

Adam Silver shot the NBA in the foot. If he’d just fined him and suspended him the rest of the season, the marketplace would have determined whether Sterling would have remained an owner. Now he has the opportunity foir a legal fight.

They should change it to “Democrat vs Democrat” guess Sterling didn’t give to Garcetti’s campaign

he did not want her to bring black people to Clippers games or pose for pictures with them.

This was never about race; it was about being embarrassed that his gf was seeing guys who were generally considered better -- ahem -- lovers. There, I said it. Somebody had to.

LA being LA, this should all blow over quickly. Sterling isn't going to sell, and certainly not to better -- ahem -- lovers, though a few blacks have been considered possible buyers. Including Oprah, which might work out OK. Doesn't she own a plantation somewhere?

Sterling may be old, but he’s not being unfaithful — and as we all know, infidelity is anathema, anathema I say, to the NBA community — after 50 years of marriage because he’s on death’s door. The NBA might be able to make him sell the team, but it would be starting a bloodletting that would, in the words of the late Jim Morrison, make the whole ####house go up in flames.

Sterling’s been doing it his way for a long time now, but it still is no surprise that the NAACP was set to give an award to both him and to the racist riot-inciter Al Sharpton. The difference between the two men is that Sharpton is a racist in public AND has his own TV show to disseminate his racist views. Sterling was chewing out that plastic surgery (non-) success story he apparently calls his girlfriend, in private manner, and was surreptitiously recorded, probably by her.

I really don’t think he should sell it, I think he should find some way to make those players and the league pay.

So the politically correct crowd at the NBA had their moment in the sun. Oh, how they thrusted their chests and radiated in the glow of the adulation cast their way as they banned this billionaire buffoon from the NBA for life and "fined" him a couple million dollars (which is lunch money for this guy).

Now they are going to have to defend their rash actions in a court of law against a man with virtually unlimited cash and resources.

Will be interesting to watch how this turns out. Do we continue our path to being a banana republic in which we seize property from people who say things we don't like? Or is this where we draw the line. We shall see.

...after the revelation of taped conversations in which he told his friend, V. Stiviano, that he did not want her to bring black people to Clippers games or pose for pictures with them.

They just don't make racists like they used to. I'll bet this was not the first conversation about this matter that Sterling had with V. I think that there is more to this than simple (I mean simple) racism on the part of Sterling. According to V's archivist story there should be lots and lots of tapes.
