THE MAN who shot President Ronald Reagan is allowed to spend 17 days on release from a psychiatric hospital each month under a new court ruling, writes Mike Parker in Los Angeles.
The freedom given to failed assassin John Hinckley Jr, which includes permission to drive to his mothers house, has sparked a storm in the US and shocked former First Lady Nancy, 92.

Why should you be punished less, just because you’re a bad shot?
Squeaky Fromme graduated from my same HighSchool we have lots of famous peeps from there
What about poor old Sirhan Sirhan? He’s served longer and he is from the most favored muslim sub species. He should be released and given a home in Massachusetts.

“John”, Reagan said, “I want you to know I have decided to forgive you.”
Hinkley was stunned.
“Not only that”, Reagan continued, “I’ve decided to give a full pardon.”

Reagan walked Hinkley to the door. “Good luck, John. You are free to go.”

Andrew Jackson also survived an assassination attempt.
March 30, 1981 -- his famous words to Nancy Reagan when she arrived at the hospital following his assassination attempt, a line first attributed to boxing's heavyweight Jack Dempsey when he lost the title to Gene Tunney in 1926
"Honey, I forgot to duck."
Want proof? Hinckley is free; his gun is still in custody. Danger over, problem solved.
As did Truman, IIRC
You an ANZAC? Spent 6 mo in the Sinai, ANZACs were our sister unit in North Camp. Crazy, Party Animals. And the greatest people you could ever hope to know.
Cops that actually kill innocent people get little or no time. Hinkley should be out of jail by now.
