Pro-Russian separatists shot down two helicopters in a key eastern Ukrainian city, and fighting in the port city of Odessa triggered a fire that killed dozens, as the embattled nation moved closer to the brink of civil war.
Interim Ukraine President Oleksandr Turchynov said "many" pro-Russia rebels have been killed, injured and arrested in a major offensive to regain control of Slavyansk, though it was not clear if the Kiev-backed forces had succeeded. Russia reacted angrily to the offensive by Ukrainian security forces, calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after a spokesman for President Vladimir Putin warned it "effectively destroyed the last hope for the implementation of the Geneva agreements."
In the Black Sea port city of Odessa, Ukraine's third-largest city, a fire that broke out in a trade union building amid clashes killed 31. Fighting there represented another ominous milestone in the conflict that threatens to become a full-blown civil war, as Odessa holds huge historic significance for Russians and Ukrainians alike.

Got a name for him? I’d like to go further with it if so...
I read about that. People often wonder how could the Germans have killed so many Jews and others in the camps, and tortured them? How could the Hutus and Tutsis killed each other so brutally? How could the Khmer Rouge butchered 2 plus million? etc.
We can see right now how they could have done it.
I understand only what tne light in my heart shows me.
Discerning evil from good, truth from lies, isn’t always easy, but sometimes it’s quite clear.
We all make so many choices, every day, like coming to a “Y” in the road constantly. And the choices bring us to different destinations.
Lost rack of the tweet. I have multiple feeds and searches going.
Ok...maybe I’ll come across it alon g the wya.
I need to go to bed LOL...can’t hit the keys right....
Likewise, Poll workers required class tomorrow.
Could be the calm before the storm. Odessa hit people pretty hard no doubt.... Won’t be surprised if some international authority gets wind of the young teenagers part in this and we’ll hear their outcry. There should be.
Russia’s been pretty good about keeping it’s cards close to it’s chest all along. But now they have admitted openly they have Russian special forces I Ukraine, and with Odessa going down as it did, Putin’s going to do something.....and the US and EU know that.
Might be heavy International negotiations going on and why so quiet...no one wants to disturb those at this juncture.
We can only speculate, but it won’t remain calm for long...or else a deal of some sort is struck that would extend that.
Hard to sometimes disengage from these events when so much is riding on them.
Eu’s been quiet for sometime...so that it will look like Obama is taking the lead, besides they don’t want to upset their applecart.
What a horrible mess this is!
Like I said...
Still NOTHING coming out of Russia officially about this, other than the demand that Ukraine back up it’s claim about the Odessa dead.
On top of that, the Kiev Prez is now claiming that RUSSIAN FSB sent in the weapons used (Didn’t see the videos of only pistols, I guess), and that RUSSIA deliberately set the fire that killed those people.
The Ukes have gone into full Obama propaganda mode. Imagine that one, eh??
I can’t help but feel something BIG is about to go down. And it’s not going to be good.
Jimmy Obama Carter may have stumbled us right into WW3, over his damn ego.
Military observers held hostage freed via OSCE and confirmed
Obama....”All countries agree that Russia has violated international law.”
“All” = “Countries that agree with us.”
