The Republican-controlled House will hold a contempt vote next Thursday on embattled former IRS supervisor Lois Lerner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor says.
If the legislators vote to hold Lerner in contempt, it will be the most serious step taken by lawmakers in the controversy surrounding the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative, tea party and religious groups.

Scheduled for next Thursday, until changed.
This should have been done many weeks ago. She should already be in custody.
I Would like to have the contempt vote for Cantor today
And it would have been done many weeks ago if Boehner and Cantor were not philosophically in sympathy with suppression of the Tea Party.
She joins Holder in this honor. No jail time included. How long would one of us run around loose after such an adjudication, I wonder?
And the results of this vote will be what exactly? Indictment? Trial? Jail time? Nothing at all?
So what exactly does Contempt mean? What punishment comes along with it? Is she going to be put in jail? Are her benefits going to be cut off?
Hear...! Hear...! Suppression of the Tea Party is the main objective of “ALL” of the “political elites” of both parties. Nothing scares them more than a party that believes in and promotes love of country, capitalism, patriotism, moral values, and freedom of the “INDIVIDUAL”.
EXEMPT hated Cowards. Why not today?
More corruption to go?
Payoffs for the EXEMPT not ready?
Boehner and Cantor move at the speed of cold molasses concerning what needs to happen.
Dirty deed done cheap...
Last night Greta, one of the better talking heads, kept commenting about Bohner’s unwillingness to get a select committee up and running. That move alone has been responsible for the haphazard investigations of this administration. IMO, it is a calculated approach to bury it all.
She’s on the hook for releasing private taxpayer information, felony 5 years. She will face justice with the next administration at the very latest.
Also, there are several civil lawsuit now being filed against her and the IRS. She’s not walking away from anything.
Nothing will happen to her if she’s found in contempt. Eric Holder would have to prosecute her, and that won’t happen.
For goodness sake, the woman will have died of old age if this thing doesn’t move along a bit faster. Can you imagine how long it will take when the house votes to impeach odumbo. I too will be dead of old age when/If that ever happens. Don’t hold your breath!
“And it would have been done many weeks ago if Boehner and Cantor were not philosophically in sympathy with suppression of the Tea Party.”
As is usual with your commentary, bingo!
So once Cantor gets this vote through next week he’ll be free to give Obama and the Democrats what they REALLY WANT, which is Amnesty, so that the Dems can have 30 MILLION new voters, in short order.
Sounds like Cantor is really carrying the water for Republicans...
I’m wondering about this myself...
Wasn’t there a presiding member of the committee questioning her? Why can’t he/she charge her with contempt and put her in handcuffs immediately?
I certainly hope you’re right but considering what we’ve seen for the past going on six years, no one in this administration is ever held accountable for anything. I don’t hold any hope for civil lawsuits either. Everyone, judges included, seems to be bought and paid for when it comes to these people.
The statute of limitations are not going to run out by the time the next administration is sworn in.
