Heroin and Alcohol Led to the Deaths of Ex-SEALs
NY Times ^ | 4/30/14 | nicholas Kulish

The authorities in the Seychelles said Tuesday that they had determined that a combination of heroin and alcohol was responsible for the deaths of two former members of the Navy SEALs working as guards on board a container ship in February. The two, Jeffrey Reynolds and Mark Kennedy, in their 40s, were found dead in a cabin aboard the Maersk Alabama, the cargo ship that became famous in 2009 after Somali pirates attacked it and took the captain hostage. After autopsies determined the men had died of respiratory failure and possible heart attacks, officials in the Seychelles, a small Indian Ocean nation, requested further analysis of stomach contents and blood samples in Mauritius. Those tests “revealed no trace of any poison, thus ruling out foul play,” the police in the Seychelles said Tuesday. A local pathologist then concluded that Mr. Reynolds’s and Mr. Kennedy’s heart failures “had been as a result of a combination of heroin and alcohol consumption,” ......Investigators found pills, syringes and a brown powder that later proved to be heroin in the cabin. The Seychelles, an archipelago about 1,000 miles east of Kenya, has one of the world’s highest rates of injectable drug use, according to the United Nations. The earlier attack on the Maersk Alabama, which became the basis of the Oscar-nominated film “Captain Phillips,” was one of several high-profile episodes that led shipping companies to place armed security guards like Mr. Reynolds and Mr. Kennedy on their vessels. The two former SEAL members worked for the Trident Group, a maritime security company in Virginia Beach. The company president said that contractors were required to submit to extensive drug screening every two years and that both men had passed their tests within the last 18 months.

That's neither here nor there, the fact that the son died of a drug overdose while an officer stationed at West Point shows that there is no segment of the military that is immune from drug addiction.......

No, but there IS a personality character that IS immune.

Drug addiction is an individual MORAL issue relating to character. It's not a medical issue or a social issue, it is a MORAL character issue. People are responsible for their own addictions and the consequences. They have always been and will always be responsible no matter how much medicine and compassionate people would like to relieve pitiful addicts of that responsibility. Regardless of good intentions, it belongs SOLELY to the addict. ONLY the addict.

Navy SEALs would be as immune to self-destructive drug addiction as any, though that's not to say some exceptions might go the other way. EVEN IF THEY DID, there's zero way they'd both have OD'd to death at the same time. That's like the guy who committed suicide by shooting himself twice with his own shotgun. In the back.

I’ve seen multiple ODs on the same supply at the same time. Somebody buys a batch that’s purer than their crowd is used to and everybody spikes up and some folks can’t take it.

Heroin is so pure these days that it can be smoked, swallowed, or snorted.

During the last 5 years heroin abuse has doubled in the United States. Holders bold response was to provide Naxalone. Which was part of the drug legalization policy Soros was demanding in the 90’s.

What is going on is insane, and like I said Americans are CLUELESS!!!!

It’s the oxy effect. Oxycotin is an opiate, people got hooked on it starting with legitimate use, prescription mills kept people hooked. Now the fed gov and state govs have been putting a lot of pressure on the mills, it’s getting harder and harder to feed an oxy habit. But an oxy habit IS a heroin habit in disguise, so guess what people turn to. Only heroin strengths are a lot more random, a lot harder to control input, people OD.

It’s not to tough to imagine guys who spent their life in extremely hard physical exertion might have been prescribed some serious painkillers in their life, and used them long enough to get an oxy habit. Now they can’t get their oxy anymore and they follow the same path as everybody else. You’ve got to figure any ex-SEAL whose doing guard duty on a container ship probably isn’t on a straight an narrow path.

of course. The purity of the heroin was 44% according to utsandiego.com - that’s not hooker-level heroin, and it doesn’t fit with “heroin is increasingly becoming hard to get hold off leading to dealers to ‘cut’ their supplies to make it go further” as reported in the UKDailyMail.

In the mind of jihadists, there is a blood debt against Americans to be paid for the pirates that died during the Mersk hijack. The police said the hookers were well known. iirc, they’ve since disappeared.

It’s not uncommon for vets with injuries to have struggles with drug dependency.

My friend lives in Philadelphia and it took over a year of constant unanswered emails into how he was doing before he opened up and told me about his son.

Bill was a Vietnam vet too who had the unfortunate job of being a medic in a FOB that sustained many assaults...........

You can't imagine how proud Bill was when his son was accepted to the academy and how heart broken I was to hear of his son's death...........

If it wasn’t for the fact that Soros drug policy from the 90’s is now in full effect, and nobody is questioning how this is getting in, heroin isn’t produced in the US, and all the media doesis repeat the stupid antidote of Narcan, obviously somebody has stock in the company.

It is all BS. Americans are clueless. Remember when there was a concern about cocaine? Decades ago it was confiscated before even getting into the country on a daily basis. There wasn’t nearly the problems and supplies as there is now with heroin. How is it that the DEA, Homeland Security, et seem to have ZERO accountability with the toxins getting into the country?

You obviously know nothing about packaged drugs....

Unfortunately, when one chooses to be blind to the obvious, they're more inclined to accept the conspiracy...........

It’s always been able to smoked, swallowed, or snorted. It’s a powder, you can take it however you want. But method of ingestion effect rate of effect. Most junkies start with methods other than shooting up, as they get more and more hooked and need to hit faster and faster they move to shooting. But even the most pathetic junky can still get by just eating it.

i dont’ know much about them either, but, one of them was a medic. If there was only one syringe, and one of the marines was slumped over, why would the second marine continue to inject himself? If heroin was only found in the blood, wouldn't that indicate an instantaneous death of the first marine? certainly it would have taken some time to prepare the second injection? We're told the second marine was holding the syringe in his hand. Where was the injection site? Why no mention of a tourniquet? isn't that necessary for a veneous injection? I'd like to know more details.

Nothing about heroin consumption in this country has actually changed. The rate of use has remained fairly consistent for the last 20 years. The drug itself remains basically the same. All that’s really happened is that the “news” agencies have gotten bored talking about the evils of meth, so they’re back to talking about the evils of heroin, which are exactly the same as the last time they talked about it.

what if they were already on the ship

So a containership in the fleet of the largest containership corporation in Europe, which was carrying hundreds of millions of dollars of customer property, allowed non-employees to board the ship - in two separate shifts - and kept no ship's log?

Your version of events gets more surreal by the second.

There was a NY Times article about the case that said both men complained of the boredom of guard duty on the ship.

If there was only one syringe, and one of the marines was slumped over, why would the second marine continue to inject himself?

Junkies are known to share needles and death isn't instantaneous..........

As for tourniquets, they're NOT necessary (having personally witnessed a couple army buddies shoot up)........

Sorry but I'm not buying into this conspiracy..........

Heroin is cheaper than prescription pain drugs and many hooked on H started on pain meds.(many actually prescribed for pain and later couldn't quit)

If you think of the life of a SOCOM guy, years of that are bound to leave you with serious pain from previous injuries.

Hair samples should be a way to find out if these guys played around with this stuff before. I personally don’t believe a word but stranger things have happened.
