This story's byline is "SASABE, SONORA".I always thought that "Sonora" was one Mexico's provinces.Or am I missing something here?
Oops! It's called "El Sásabe" in Sonara, I assumed they meant the border town on the Arizona side...a follow up reveals Slightly more detail: "After Rodrigues Amaya was shot, he opened the drivers door of the truck and fell down. He asked his friends to find his father, who then took him to the Sasabe Port of Entry. There, Customs and Border Protection officers performed first aid until the helicopter arrived."
From which we may infer the guy is a US Citizen, but he must have been in Mexico just a short distance from the US, in El Sásabe, which of course is typically shortened to just "Sásabe", which is also the name of the Arizona town just a short distance over the border (few 100 yards). Technically the same town as far as the locals are concerned...except for the annoying border crossing.
As for visiting Mexico, it's off the list indefinitely. Maybe if they offer reciprocity for US State CHL?
Sasabe is on both sides of the border.
It’s a Port of Entry with a US Post Office, but the bulk of the Sasabe residents live in Sonora, MX.
