GOP senators: Arm Ukraine, hit Russian banks

Saying President Barack Obama hasn’t been tough enough on Russia, a high-powered group of Republican senators introduced legislation on Wednesday aimed at imposing new sanctions on Moscow over its actions in Ukraine.

“Rather than react to events as they unfold, which has been the policy of this administration, we need to inflict more direct consequences on Russia prior to Vladimir Putin taking additional steps that will be very difficult to undo,” said Bob Corker of Tennessee, the top GOP member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who drafted the measure.

The congressional push for a harder line on Russia comes with Obama set to welcome German Chancellor Angela Merkel, one of his key partners on Ukraine, to the White House on Friday.

~Most Ukrainians despise Nazi. If you know anything about history you would know that. Yet you think that when you arm Ukraine you arm Nazis.~

Most Libyans, Syrians, Iraqis, even Afghanis and Somalians despise Al-Qaeda as well. Too bad 10% supporters are enough to screw things up.

Yup. A little Reaganesque restraint would go a long way with voters.

A friend recently told me that he thanks God for the fact that most of his time in the military was under Reagan because they weren’t sent to every god forsaken hellhole in the world at every whim and only went on alert a handful of times. He did spend a few months in Riyadh when Bush Sr was in office.

Reagan used the military surgically and sparingly in conjunction with smart honest diplomacy.

Yet is was economic warfare with a strong vigilant defense that brought the Soviets to their knees.

However, the isolationist Borschst Brigade here cant even abide economic sanctions.

Absolute disgraces to Reagan conservatism.

That’s just crazy talk! What was that Reagan fella? Some kinda commie sympathizer? The punk shoulda just hung a Russian flag on his house and been done with it. Everyone TRULY AMERICAN knows you send the military out over every issue anywhere at all times!

ESPECIALLY when your CIC writes the hardcore brutal ROEs that they have to fight under!

THAT, my Freeper Friend is what it means to be AMERICAN!

We’re broke now (like the soviet union was at the end of the cold war)

Looks like you’re going to have to hike up your man panties and go prove your manhood on your own.

Did you read that on Alex Jones or the Paul forums.

Last I looked we still have a few carriers that roam the oceans of the world.

If you wish to ignore that Reagan spent the Russians into the ash heap of history...go for it. Hiding in your isolationist dollhouse aint gonna cut it.

More inability to read from Normie. I don’t have to ship out to support economic sanctions against Russia for their illegal annexation of sovereign land.

And for the record, I was jumping out of airplanes when you were jumping off the school bus.

Do you touch yourself when you say the names Alex Jones and Paul?

You seem to have a rather unhealthy fixation.

Seems you forgot something on the way down. Like why exactly we should do a single thing in this mess.

Of course since we had so much to do with fanning the flames of it with the Stare Dept and every RINO with a war woodie beating the drums, you’ll get your wish eventually.

Please. Tell the class. What exactly benefits America by tobogganing Russia? What business is it of ours what issues they and Ukraine have? What exactly. In detail.

Why do you ‘feel’ that an admin that caused the whole ‘spring’ fiasco should keep getting America involved in world affairs when all it does is screw them up to the benefit of the people they CLAIM to be opposing?

What an infantile comment.

Their listeners are statistically the stupidest people outside of Obama supporters. Congrats.

Just in case no one ever heard the phrase ‘Tobogganing’ is like the winter sled. You get on it, take off down a slippery slope waving your hands in the air with no steering, no brakes and no idea how far down the hill you’ll get before crashing into something.

It is absolutely in our national interest to economically punish the Russians for annexing and destabilizing weak nations it can steamroll...acquiring more power that will be used to confront the US, like it has before, once strengthened.

It will also be less expensive to do it now, than the way it was achieved at the height of the Cold War.

The US national interest doesn’t go on vacation because a limp-wristed socialist is our President.

I do not think most or many Ukrainians are Nazis.

I think the regular Ukrainian people are the losers in this situation.

But the fact is that Svoboda and its Pravi Sektor are neo Nazis and they played a significant role in the Euro Maidan protests and now have a significant role in the government.

Those facts are indisputable.

I wish nothing but good for the people of Ukraine, they are between the hammer and anvil right now.

I see you fly the Russian flag on your home page. Where in Russia are you?

Anyway, 10% of Ukrainians are NOT Nazis. You're repeating Russian propaganda.

People here are forgetting one thing that should be used in the primaries. The RINo’s are using American servicemen as pawns to show how tough they are.

If there ever was an issue the TEA Party can take which would screw the left big time it’s this one.

Very good point.

Soooo....what about every other country on Africa doing the same thing?

What about South America? Why ignore them? Why Ignore the half of the middle east we haven tried to world build yet?

And where is the cash coming from to do all this? Where? you cool with just printing more or hitting China up for...oh wait, can’t do that this time.

There is ZERO sense in any of this. Isolationism is not the act of minding ones own international business. And it’s damn peculiar that suddenly after decades of screaming against the evils of being worldcop, half the right wants to play worldcop.

Odd that.

I see so much crazy talk about this I feel sick to my stomach.

The US getting involved in a shooting match in Eastern Europe will cause nothing but misery and hellish waste of human lives.
