The New York Times has a big write up on the latest developments on the now scrapped Ground Zero mosque plan.
All of you who fought that 15 story mosquestrosity with us – kudos to you. We fought back and we won.
Sharon Otterman, the write of the NY Times piece, asked for my comments but of course didn’t use any of them. Here is what I said when asked about Sharif el-Gamal’s plans to build a museum to Islam at the site of the jihad attacks at Ground Zero.

I believe that a center at Ground Zero studying Islamic history might very well be helpful — an in-depth look at 1,400 years of jihadi wars, land appropriations, cultural annihilations and enslavements might be the first honest approach to the utter devastation and mass slaughter that led to the September 11 attacks. That’s the one thing that has not been done, but I am not holding my breath. El-Gamal certainly isn’t going to do it. Clearly this is more nonsense and denial at a time when millions across the world are suffering under the boot of sharia.
I am so very glad we succeeded and Gamal has scaled the project back to a mere 3 floors.
On a side note, do you know where is El-Gamal is getting the money? Are you pursuing that as well? Or is this just a puff piece? The man defaulted on not one, but two bank loans. He failed to pay rent to Con Ed, part-owner of one of the buildings. They sued him and won. And El-Gamal failed to pay the taxes owed on the building. On top of all this, he was evicted from his Soho Properties offices for failure to pay rent.
And yet he bought the two buildings that flank the proposed Ground Zero site. Where is he getting the money? Have you asked him? Do you intend to?

Interesting. I remember how the MSNBC crowd were all in favor of a ground zero mosque, and saying it was Islamophobic to oppose same.
Am I understanding correctly that he is scrapping the plans for the mosque, but instead planning on building a museum touting the “greatness of Islam”?

So is the Ground Zero Victory Mosque not happening, or has it been reduced to three stories from fifteen?
I thought it was CANCELLED,... I am NOT happy with even 3 floors.

Establishing 3 floors is a beachhead. It is not over.

I can't think of one reason to read the New York Times version... Maybe when they include some answers to the above questions I'll take a look..
in related news, the church that used to be there between the towers will be rebuilt just across the street.
Israel’s destruction is not the Muslim’s goal — that is merely a ruse.
The destruction of, what was once referred to as the ‘West’, is the ultimate goal and the USA is the ultimate target.
But .. the West is only part of it. The West is considered to be a “Christian” nation .. and therefore, we are also in the cross-hairs of the Muslim religion.
The real goal is to “... shove Israel into the sea”.
The dirty little secret is .. the Muslims believe (or have been brainwashed to believe) that they are the true inheritors of Abraham’s fortune .. THE LAND GOD PROMISED TO THE JEWS.
This really isn’t as complicated as people try to make it out to be. This is merely a fight between two half-brothers for the same land; the land that was promised to Abraham .. by GOD.

“I am truly perplexed that so many of my friends are against another mosque being built. I think it should be the goal of every American to be tolerant regardless of their religious beliefs. Thus the mosque should be allowed, in an effort to promote tolerance.
That is why I also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque thereby promoting tolerance from within the mosque.
We could call one of the clubs, which would be gay, “The Turban Cowboy,” and the other a topless bar called “You Mecca Me Hot.”
Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork, and adjacent to that an open-pit barbecue pork restaurant, called “Iraq of Ribs.”
Across the street there could be a lingerie store called “Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret,” with sexy mannequins in the window modelling the goods.
