On NPR’s race-matters talk show “Tell Me More” on Monday, host Michel Martin discussed the Donald Sterling scandal with New York Times sports columnist William Rhoden, announcing he had written the book "Forty Million Dollar Slave: The Rise, Fall, And Redemption Of The Black Athlete."
Rhoden used the Sterling scandal to thump a tub for racial quotas in journalism. He claimed that every time there’s not a black journalist in a newsroom or a stadium press box, that news outlet or media elite is Donald Sterling-level racist:
Donald Sterling made millionaires out of a far higher percentage of blacks than exist in American society today.
Is it “racism” when there are no jews on basketball team
How can you be a slave if your pay is set by the market and you can quit your job?

They will never let us move on. We will be dogged by race forever.
It’s racism if a white isn’t in the starting line-up. But wait. Whites were in the starting line-up when the constitution was written so they’ve had special priviledge all these years. Of course that was only on the white teams. The Founding Fathers’ personally owned teams were all slaves.

I notice that even though the players on his team knew of his “racist” attitude for a long time, they didn’t stop accepting and cashing their paychecks from him, did they.
Their selective outrage is hypocrisy of the highest level.

During CBS’ Final Four coverage you had Greg Gumbell, Clark Kellogg, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, Greg Anthony (some), Grant Hill (some)...really?
Its funny that blacks complain that they only make up about 8% of major league baseball players when there are so many Hispanic players. At the same time, they don’t count black Hispanic players as black.

Naaa..they should just take their money, intellect and initiative and LEAVE. Within two generations, they’d be back in loin cloths chucking spears at each other again. Case in point: Zimbabwe Oh, that truth hurts a lot, doesn’t it, boys and girls.
how about those weekly story meetings with staff and editors? how about recording those.
