What a load of revisionist krap. This assertion that Russia has the right to the Ukraine because Russia started in Kiev is like saying the Germans should claim England because the Saxons a germanic group once migrated there.
BTW the reason why we call them Germans and not Deutch is because we use the Roman name. The Romans called the area that after the son (Germanicus) of a Roman Caesar was killed there in a battle with the “Wends”. Which was a slavic tribe known to themselves as Sorb and still live in “Germany”. Kiev actually began as a “Norse trade outpost which grew into developed area. Part of its history was as a Hansa member. It’s population is homoginized not a homogenic Russian region. Millions of the original peoples were killed off by Stalin (Holdomor kulacks) and replaced. The point being Ukraine developed into its own culture and history sometimes within Russia and sometimes when the opportuity presented itself away from their domination.
This invasion of the Ukraine is about its oil and gas which nobody mentions not even the Ukrainians. Once he seizes Ukraine, Putin will be in a position to threaten the adjacent oil finds in Romainia,Moldavia, on the Black sea and inland as well as Poland.
