A new word-discouragement campaign at Duke University has labeled phrases such as Man Up, Thats So Gay, and Dont Be a Pussy offensive language that delegitimizes homosexuality and oppresses and insults people.
But as the campaign has gained national popularity, its detractors have bristled at the effort, calling it a politically correct war on words that will stifle free speech and suggesting its true aim is to redefine terms to control public opinion and ultimately public policy.

Don’t be a pussy doesn’t originally com from slang for genitalia.
The etymology for pussy in this context is a shortening of the word “pusillanimous”.
I have noticed leftists trying to edit online dictionaries to cover for this (as I am far from the first to point it out) but they can’t edit my huge Websters international dictionary from the early seventies.
The poor scholarship here is par for the course at Duke these days.

How dare those white people use a Spanish word.
Looks like that angry Mexican girl learned how to oppress whites from blacks who use the ‘n’ word non-stop, but have learned to use it as an excuse to beat, arrest or torment whites who use it in the same way.
""The beaver was chosen as the mascot of Technology because of its remarkable engineering and mechanical skill and its habits of industry. The proposal that the beaver be adapted as the mascot of the Institute was made at the annual dinner of the Technology Club of New York on January 17, 1914. The late President Richard Maclaurin formally accepted the proposal, and at this dinner a group of beavers shown in natural surroundings was presented to the Institute.""
NC State?
And I didn’t spell check.
Embarassing on an etymology post.
Maybe she would like to volunteer to be a piñata?
When will the pc crowd demand Duke quit teaching history about the 'Gay 90's?
Language control is thought control, citizen. Now don’t be a Dick.
They are just a bunch of panty wastes.
Are they ok with “Don’t be a dick head?”
My former boss was of that particular persuasion and used that term once in front of me. Once. I told her if I ever heard that expression again from her she was going to have a real problem on her hands. I never heard it again.
