Republican and United Tea Party Alliance founder Matthew Ashworth has announced he is withdrawing from the May 6th primary against John Boehner and has endorsed Eric Gurr.
Ashworth joins former candidats Navy veteran Matthew Trisler and businessman Donald Carter as the third candidate to withdraw and endorse Gurr.
When asked Gurr said he thought the endorsement was very important as it is the third candidate to withdraw and all three endorsed Gurr.
Gurr received criticism from another candidate J.D. Winteregg over his support for deportation of illegals.
"I just don't see how we can say we are opposed to amnesty and still let a million people who have arrived in the last few years remain in the country. Wouldn't that logically lead to amnesty?" Gurr stated. In a primary debate sponsored by the Tea Party Leadership Fund Mr. Winteregg suggested that Mr. Gurr would be branded a "Nazi" by Democrats for supporting deportation. Gurr also believes that the Federal Reserve Bank must be audited and that it should be replaced with a more consistent and structured monetary policy. Mr. Winteregg expressed concerns that replacing the Fed could lead to a loss of direct deposit. Mr. Boehner to date has not been supportive of auditing the Fed.

The REAL EricGurr? Careful because I’m in the 8th Congressional district and you’re asking for my vote.
This is shaping up to be an interesting race. We are seeing some new faces getting more coverage than in previous election cycles.
A couple of months back, these folks (Gurr and Winteregg) were completely unknown. Now they have some visibility beyond the district.
Getting the message out! Yes!
They can all get out of Ohio and retire in Florida now.
BTTT
Not an Ohio voter,(mom’s family is from Cincinnati - does that count ;) but darn glad to see challengers trying to pool their strength/votes!
Dear Lord, please strengthen and guide us.

Is there a runoff if no one wins a clear majority?
glad to see yah back-on-line.
No, this one is first past the post. That’s one of the reasons that a few of the candidates decided to try and rally behind one contender.
