Inspired by the possibility of a Sarah Palin presidential run, Peter Singleton moved to this suburban community from California in November 2010 and booked an extended stay at the Days Inn on 114th Street. Palin was a tea party queen-maker at the time, and true believers like Singleton could sense a bid for the White House. For the next 10 months, he traversed his adopted state on her behalf, rallying Iowans to the cause.
But there would be no second political act for Palin, and these days many followers like Singleton have moved on. He said Friday at an ice cream social at nearby Faith Baptist Bible College that he still admires the former Alaska governor and follows her on Facebook, but, politically, she holds little sway over him. Singleton didnt even bother to attend Palins Sunday afternoon speech a short drive from here because he disagreed with her endorsement in Iowas Republican Senate primary.
Its one of those things, Singleton said, sticking his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. I have great respect for her, but this isnt about a person, its about a set of principles and values.

Wishful think by the Wash ComPost ...
Conservatives have Sarah and liberals have Hillary. I choose the one with actual integrity.
Not sure if diminished even remotely describes a reality TV star.
Bringing conservative ideas to the Jerry Springer crowd.
and by an author who until recently was with NRO ..
so irrelevent they never stop writing about her
You haven’t been paying attention to politics for the last 6 years?
For someone that supposedly is a ‘diminished figure’,She sure lives ‘rent free’ in their heads.
You just got to laugh at these people.
Well, they wouldn’t be running these articles if they weren’t still worried about her.
A Barf Alert is in order.......................
“I passed the test, I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Galadriel.”
Wash Compost writer must be a Tolkien nerd.
Being a diminished figure within an ever more diminished party seems like a good thing.
Who would want to stand out in the GOP, which sucks more than anything that has ever sucked in the entire history of suck?
Why isn’t Jeb Bush considered a diminished figure? After all, he was gov once and now pretty much out of the scene and not have any influence on anyone opinion, so why not write a article about that. Just copy and paste that article and replace Palin with Bush
Don’t you just love all the FR subtle negative-to-Palin posting going on here these days. It tugs, tugs, tugs at one’s heartstrings, don’t you agree?
Who are they trying to convince, us or themselves?
Jeb can only dream of a Palin endorsement.
I would give my left arm to see her debate the Hildebeast666. Unlike the RINO pukes the RINO party will no doubt nominate, Palin won’t let Hitlery get away with ANYTHING!! “And just how did you turn $1000 into $100,000 in Cattle futures Ms. Clinton, and just why did you spend your entire time as Senator of New York on a book tour even after 911 in which you attended only ONE funeral for a firefighter..Was promoting your book more important? And why did you put the people of New york in danger by having your husband pardon the FALN? and why exactly did you allow 4 Americans to be killed by terrorists and why did you lie as a lawyer which resulted in your being fired..” OH! I would DIE to see that!
Politico recently called Costa a "breakout star" of the 2012 presidential campaign. Washingtonian, Washington Life, and Washington Monthly have also called him one of the best reporters on the political scene.
