Bill O'Reilly: The Cliven Bundy controversy
Fox News ^ | 04-24-2014 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 04/28/2014 6:01:30 AM PDT by PaulCruz2016

When the story broke about the feds going to Nevada, to make a rancher pay grazing fees, my staff did what it always does. We researched and found out the facts and those are these. That rancher Cliven Bundy broke the law for many years by not paying the fees, that the federal government owns the land and that the State of Nevada readily admits the feds have jurisdiction in the grazing controversy. Those are the facts.

So, we presented them to you and then mildly criticized the feds for overreacting. You may remember, Judge Napolitano and I basically said it's a waste of taxpayer money to conduct a raid and seize cattle. You simply use the legal system to eventually make Bundy pay up.

Now, most of you agreed with our analysis. A few threw in with Mr. Bundy but not very many. However some commentators including a handful on Fox News rallied to Mr. Bundy's side. But most Fox News people did not. And that's why we're successful. We have a wide variety of opinion expressed in a vibrant way.

Now, we know that Cliven Bundy is a man who does not see things clearly. He made very offensive ignorant remarks about African-Americans and was roundly condemned for doing so. But here is something interesting. Mr. Bundy is also sympathetic to Hispanics.

All I can say to Mr. O’Reilly is that “vibrant” is not a substitute for “bloviate”.

I haven’t watched him in years. He’s lazy and just reports what his staff tells him to think.

..and yet OReilley's staff was unable to come up with this? When hundreds of others have?

Bravo Sierra.

OReilley is more invested in his own vision of "Fair and Balanced," and particularly of him being seen as the king thereof, than he is in the truth.

Either that, or his staff is inept.

Bundy's Black Militia Body Guard would take a bullet for him

The man in the above YouTube video is named Jason Bullock. He is a is a six-year Army veteran who is out in Nevada and has volunteered to serve as one of Cliven Bundy's bodyguards.

As you can see, Jason Bullock is also a black American.

That's what he had to say about Cliven Bundy, early this week, after Bundy's remarks were widly reported, and when CNN interviewed Bullock and asked him if Cliven Bundy's remarks had offended him.

"No, not at all. Mr. Bundy is not a racist.

"Ever since I've been here, he's treated me with nothing but hospitality. He's pretty much treating me just like his own family.

"I would take a bullet for that man if need be. I look up to him just like I do my own grandfather. I believe in his cause and after having met Mr. Bundy, I have a really good feeling about him and I'm a pretty good judge of character."

A black, veteran Marine, writes his testimonial about Cliven Bundy
The media distorts information to the point of social division. Above is a photo of myself and the resilient, often charismatic, and maybe not so tactful Cliven Bundy. He’s a cowboy and a helluva family man, not an orator.

One thing he definitely isn’t – a racist. I found his comments to not only be NOT racist, but his own view of his experiences. Who the heck are we to determine another man’s perspective on the world around him?! Just because Picasso’s view of the world was abstract, does it negate the fact that his art was genuine?

Furthermore, if you take the time to do your own research, you’ll find that his statements about some black Americans actually hold weight. He posed a hypothetical question. He said, “I wonder IF” … Hell, I’m black and I often wonder about the same about the decline of the black family.

Bottom line is that we are all slaves in this waning republic, no matter our skin color. Mr. Bundy could have used any racial demographic as an example: Native Americans on reservations, whites in trailer parks, etc. He noticed the crippling effects of receiving government “assistance” and the long term result of accepting handouts.

It’s not progress at all. I challenge Sean Hannity, Rand Paul, and others to read my comment and reconsider their position in this matter. Individual liberties are at stake here, yours and mine. THAT is the issue.

Don’t let the liberal media and ignoramuses like Glenn Beck and that weasel Harry Reid make you lose sight of the real issue here: The federal government is a burgeoning behemoth and a bully on a once constitutional playground.I sincerely hope you real patriots out there who can see through the smoke.

Semper Fidelis

These testimonials, from black Americans who know Cliven Bundy personally, and who have been to his home, speak for themselves. All the rush to judgement about this man, is just that. He asked a legitimate question about the impact of the social welfare/subsidy programs on American citizens...and it is an important question. He did not phrase it well...and the comparison to slavery in the south does not hold. So, what? So he is not an orator. So his speech is not eloquent.

Perhaps Cliven Bundy has what some may call a big wart on him. Again, so what? We all do.

That does not make him a racist, or a bigot in the least, despite what Bill OReilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and others may think or say. Those people have raitings and a lot of money riding on how they respond and what people think about their words...Cliven Bundy spoke straight...as best he could, and his underlying point is completely valid. And those two black veterans who know him, agree and stand by him. And one of those men feels so strongly about it, that he, a black US Army veteran, would take a bullet for the man. That carries a WHOLE lot more weight with me.

O'Reilly is a deliberate two-faced, word juggling fool. He wants to have it both ways. He peddles the ‘middle of the road’ BS and I refuse to watch him anymore. What on earth did he just say in this piece anyway? It reads like so much mumbo jumbo to me.

Interesting comment on the economic well-being of blacks. There was a very thorough research project done on the subject that became a book titled Time on the Cross by Robert Fogel and Stanley Engerman. The project was divided into two volumes, the first a readable narrative of the conclusions and the second the actual theory and statistics behind the conclusions.

As a grad student majoring in Cliometrics, I heard both men speak on the book at OSU. Their conclusion was that, in terms of economic well-being, antebellum slaves were better off than postbellum slaves. At the Q&A session afterwards, a black reporter accused Fogel of being a racist bigot, obviously, having not read either volume. When he finished what was really a rant rather than a question, a black lady stood up, look him in the eye, and asked him if he had read the book, to which the reporter admitted he had not. But to save face, he launched into another racist diatribe. The black lady, again, told him he didn't know what he was talking about. Fogel then said: "I see you have met my wife." Oddly...nothing more from the snotnosed reporter.

Exactly. He doesn’t want to know the truth. It’s staring him in the face and he still refuses to look at it. Bill, go back and write your fiction mysteries. You have a real talent there.

Breaking News!

Bill O’Reilly thinks that Bill O’Reilly has a much higher opinion of Bill O’Reilly than can be expressed in the mere word awesome.
