The House could come up with a bill to overhaul the countrys immigration system by August, according to the Houses No. 4 Republican.
I believe there is a path that we get a bill on the floor by August, Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (R-Wash.) the Republican conference chairwoman, told The Spokesman-Review last week.
An August deadline would resolve the troubled issue months before Novembers midterm elections, where the GOP is looking to grow its advantage in the House and pick up enough seats to take over the Senate. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has pushed for a bill and even mocked members of his party who have been opposed to the effort, yet so far the push has been unsuccessful.
In recent weeks, Boehner reportedly told financial backers that he was hell-bent on passing reform this year.
More recently, he told constituents in Ohio that the appetite amongst my colleagues for doing this is not real good.
Heres the attitude, Ohhh, dont make me do this. Ohhh, this is too hard, he added.

“Who put up the money for the amnesty bill?.”
It’s coming from the Rove end of the party.
It’s business, and they NEED WORKERS who are RELIABLE, CHEAP, and SKILLED (to some extent).
That eliminates today’s high school graduate as they’re too busy with their video games and texting to realize that there’s anything else in the world. Not to mention lazy as hell. Same for the welfare class that looks at work as a form of slavery.
But the labor is STILL NEEDED, and that is where the immigrants come in. Now, at this time, they’re mostly illegal - so business owners live under the constant threat of jail time (and Obama sent a few away early in his presidency to make sure they understood that). They NEED LABOR and they desperately want the labor to be legal.
As to whether these people stay, destroy the demographics and turn this country into a THIRD WORLD CESSPOOL, that’s for future generations to deal with (and their kids will inherit enough money to wall themselves off from the worst of it, or so they think). The ONLY important thing now is that next quarter’s earnings, and the earnings after that, as that is where the BIG BONUS CHECKS come from.
So the Dems make a deal - you get your cheap, reliable, semi-skilled labor, by the millions - but we GET THEIR VOTES. The business owners SIMPLY DO NOT CARE about the votes, so they take the bait and hit up the IDIOT Republican leaders who think the country is JUST DYING to turn Hispanic, but are being drowned out by the Tea Party.
...and so, THIS YEAR, it’s time to stick it to the Tea Party and show them they do not represent the country - for the VAST MAJORITY of the country cannot wait for Spanish to be the first language, and DAMMIT, the Republicans WILL GET THE CREDIT for that.
Only TEA for me!
Weird how the morons and buffoons on Capitol Hill are all over importing massive poverty into the United States but Keystone, jobs and the economy can be put off until after the election so it won’t hurt the DemocRATS’ chances. The bottom-feeding politicians sure do have their priorities messed up.
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory once again. Boner has to go before he does this.
The only outcome of such a resolution is the certainty the GOP will lose the House and further slink to minority status in the Senate.
Only corrupt conspiracy could be driving their actions down this road.
It won't matter if YOUR GUY didn't vote yes. He will have enabled those who did by not standing tall and loud.
If Boner put such a bill on the floor today it would pass with at least 100 "Republicans" aboard. The remainder will try to disclaim any responsibility, but remember: Boner serves at their pleasure. And, they don't seem to be willing or able to displace him.
EACH AND EVERY REPUBLICAN will be equally responsible.
Which begs the question: Which of you will forever forsake that party when they do this? And I'm talking sworn oath: NEVER AGAIN!
I doubt that Obama and the Democrats will approve of anything that will pass\ the house.
Thanks for nothing, GOP.
A vote for amnesty is a vote for civil war.
Would they dare introduce a bill that didn't have majority GOP votes?
He just broke the Hastert rule over one of the budget deals, so yeah.
GOP wants a bill to allow worker's to stay here without a path to citizenship, the Democrats won't accept anything less than a path to citizenship.
The fact that the RINO leadership keeps talking about this shows their frustration over being blocked by the Conservatives.
Don’t think they would do it on a “values” proposition.
No.
The Tea Party must win no matter what it takes.
