Kiev, Ukraine (CNN) -- A perilous face-off intensified Saturday when Russia state news complained that Ukraine had mobilized 15,000 troops in the suburbs of Slavyansk in eastern Ukraine "in order to wipe out the city and its residents."
Quoting a Russian Defense Ministry source, RIA Novosti said satellite photos showed the force forming around the city that has become a friction point between the Ukraine military and pro-Russian militants.
The Defense Ministry source said the number of Ukraine troops put the pro-Russian militants at a disadvantage because the latter are "armed only with small amount of pistols and shotguns." Many eastern Ukraine residents have Russian roots and sympathize with Moscow.

I have stated many times that “there are no good guys in this”..and there are not. I won't defend the US/Eu actions over Ukraine nor Russia's for neither of their interests are in the Ukrainian people and haven't been from the get go.
Further you have no clue what I read or where I go, or whom I speak directly with regarding however I might conclude on any event concerning these matters of Ukraine and the players in and outside of it. ...for they are numerous/varied and come form far more than just the MSM or Russian Media....neither of which are reliable.
Yeah exactly
MREs to Ukraine ?????
I’m getting all sorts of indications those either haven’t been sent or they simply aren’t using them. Perhaps just another BO lie for that matter.
Seems there’s much complaint the Ukraine army isn’t getting fed, (from the soldiers themselves), so the Kiev Governmnt is asking the people and neighbors to provide for them.
Course maybe Bo sent left over MR’s nobody would eat!
Or like a Democrat or a muslim.
It's called projection.
What is going on in Eastern Ukraine is like Putin riding a horse without a shirt...it's all about his image.
He is pushing because Obama and the West is/are weak. He is flexing his political muscle.
In the end, Putin knows that when he smiles and shakes hands with the West...all will be well.
The mom jeans and sissy boys (like Obama/Kerry) will proclaim victory and the West will return to complaining about the use of language like "Man Up" and "Pussy" and "Bitch" and "Bossy."
Putin will have taken all he can take (and that might include Eastern Ukraine) and he will be admired by Russians for being a man...a Russian Man.
Because you are a Kremlin apologist and want to muddy the waters, since you know very well what would happen if you dare opposed me in my descriptions of the Kremlin and its crimes.
This stupid, useless moral relativisms backed up by your conspiracy theories must be rejected by all right-thinking Americans.
Further you have no clue what I read or where I go
Aside from Russian media or Alex Jones, you have no other source for your information. They cannot be backed up with any of the facts.
Then the Russians are idiots. They already had a "buffer" regardless of who'd be in charge in Kiev. Europe is weak militarily, Ukraine is even worse, and dirt poor. Plus, Russia has the Euros by the you-know-whats energy-wise. None of that would have changed if Putin / Russia had done nothing more than to suggest gas for Ukraine could be a problem if Ukraine did not honor the Crimea base lease agreement and not enter NATO. Ukraine would bend over backwards to cooperate: They desperately need both the money and the continued almost free gas supply from Russia that the Crimea lease / deal gave them. Ukraine as a member of the EU is a big "so what?". There certainly would be no NATO tanks on Ukraine's border with Russia. But, the way things are going now, there will be stronger NATO forces all around Western Russia. Also, might I point out that Estonia and Latvia border Russia and are already NATO members. Further, without Russian provocation, little would have been accomplished to wean Europe from Russian gas. Now, that will likely change.
On the other hand, maybe Putin is not an idiot, and Russia is, as many times in the past, taking advantage of weakness around them, to gain ground. In this case, we have a weak Europe, and particularly crucial, a weak U.S. President.
Personally, I doubt that Putin is an idiot.
Saudi can barely supply their own internal gas demand, and is not likely to do better any time in the forseeable future. Any production they do develop is targeted to internal consumption for power, and their growing petrochemicals (plastics, mainly) industry. They are planning “long term”, and it’s a very smart move on their part, I might add.
That said, other suppliers are coming online, which does play into Syria’s position. But who’s in charge in Kiev has little bearing on alternate gas supplies to Europe.
You might do a little better if you did not proclaim omniscience...
The Nazis in Ukraine are not a significant force, but could become one if the people in central and western Ukraine are pushed to desperation. Nor was “the West” a significant factor in the Maydan “revolution”. The West / Obama was more like a bull rider landing with his face in the dirt.
The long term problem(s) are the ramifications worldwide, of U.S. weakness in leadership, #1 being the inevitable arms races. Nuclear war becomes not just likely, but almost a certainty, when many countries have nukes.
I have read reports of hungry soldiers, too, though I’m not so sure that is “widespread.”
Still, math is your friend:
I’m sure some MRE’s were lost to corruption, but, let’s say 250,000 of the 300,000 shipped got through to reliable Ukraine military personnel. Including recent sign-ups and reservists activated, I’ll guess at 50,000 personnel to feed.
That’s one meal per person for 5 days.
Our “support” is embarrasing.
The only domination the EU can enforce over any member country is monetary, and if a member is not an idiot, the EU doesn’t even have that, in a compelling way. If Britain left the EU, Brussels is hardly going to send in troops, or even impose trade sanctions, to get it back. Some “Empire”.
By comparison, what happens in Crimea should the populace decide they’ve made a poor choice?
Yes but Russian military movements have always caused Western nations to build up their militaries. Russia doesn’t want that. Russia cannot win an arms race, especially with China on their border eyeballing all those oil reserves.
Apparently it’s ok for the Russians to mass troops along Ukraine’s borders...
That bit about the seperatists only having “pistols and shotguns” is a bit much too, given the hundreds if not thousands of videos out there showing otherwise.
Incidentally, this is very “interesting”:
“Crimea is part of Ukraine since 1954. Decision to give Crimea to Ukraine was not determined by fact that Nikita Krushev was Ukrainian. It was necessity, totally economic decision and by the way in return Russia gained large territories of East Ukraine where millions ethnic Ukrainians living today. It was deal and not a gift.”

“...so gullible that they believe Putin is there to protect/rescue Russians in Ukraine...”
Probably as gullible as half of this country screaming “HOPE! CHANGE!!! HOPE!!! CHANGE!!!” and “SI SE PUEDE!” back in 08 and 012.
I can see it.
Ukraine should look to Finland and the 1939-40 Winter War.
The Finns SLAUGHTERED the Red Army in droves, and managed to keep most of their land, in spite of compromises.
This is NOT the Red Army of 1940. These Russian kids aren’t going to die for the “greater glory of socialism”.
If Ukraine makes it as painful as possible in lives, the Bear will back off.
A handful of Mujahideen in Afghanistan did the same thing to them throughout the 1980s, and they left in 1988 after horrendous losses.
“...pecial place in hell for traitors to their country and apologists of evil....”
Dude, seriously?
It’s a discussion forum. You’re relatively new here (Greetings_Puny_Humans Since Feb 25, 2013) why don’t you keep it civil?
Rhino disagrees with you, and you go personal on it? Call him a TRAITOR??? You have ZERO idea what he’s done in his life for his country.
Great way to influence people to your viewpoint. /s
Be cool.
Not that you said differently, but the only difference between Nazis' (National Socialist German Workers' Party) and Communists is - Nazis are driven by an Arian sociopathic cult with some private ownership and communists are driven by an atheistic sociopathic cult with no private ownership. Both are dictatorship statist regimes who murder with impunity and eventually run out of other-people's money.
Russians don't hate Nazis per se, they hate Germans. Just like the Chinese don't hate imperialism, they hate Japanese and western imperialism.
The facts are well with me. These sheep who parrot Russian propaganda or expect us to take anti-American Alex Jones propaganda seriously can go stuff it.
