Of course, the east side of Chicago would be Lake Michigan. Apparently there are no boaters out there killing each other.......
The band that did the song, “The Night Chicago Died” was taken to task for referring to the “old east side.” But there actually is a neighborhood on the far southern tip of Chicago known as the Eastside, so called because it is on the east side of Calumet Harbor. Crime there hasn’t been quite as bad there as in other places, but it is starting to pick up. It has always had a reputation as kind of a tough area: the mob used to dump bodies there, Loeb and Leopold disposed of Bobby Franks there, etc.
I know that, but I always want to make the East side comment whenever I hear people from Chicago talk about the city. Incidentally, I was born in Illinois but left when I was 6 months old. Even at that young age I’d seen enough, lol.
