Gov. Rick Perry (RTexas) weighed in on former Florida Gov. Jeb Bushs contentious comments about illegal immigration, expressing sympathy for those who broke laws to take care of their family.

Perry’s stupidity is only exceeded by that of someone who would support him. He’s just heartless...
Pack up all your amnest-ee....and go
We don't need that care and woe
Bye bye, Perr-ee
No one longer cares for thee
Sugar's sweet....not amnest-ee
Bye bye, Rand-ee
All the hard luck stories you guys hand us
Just shows that you don't understand us
Pack your bags, get out of sight
You're on the wrong side of the fight
On amnest-ee you don't come close
So, bye bye, guys....IT'S ADIOS!

I remember it well. The Perry faithful can be vicious as they try to foist their pro-ILLEGAL alien, nanny state governor on the rest of the nation.

Using that"logic", all but a few in the Texas legislature wanted Texas females to die of cancer as they voted nearly unanimously to overturn his Ghardasil mandate.
Perry supporters remind me of the average liberal. They cannot win a debate on the merits of the issue at hand so they attack their debate opponents personally. Unfortunately, that is probably what lies ahead as Perry still has his eyes on the WH.
More billionaires live in Mexico than any other country in the world. Yet Mexico DEMANDS that WE take care of their poor... and so many carpetbagger politicians in this country try to convince us that it is our civic duty.
Well, our borders are open, now... criminals and terrorists pouring across daily. I suspect only God can save us now... treason on all sides.
My point, in citing his words from the article, was to point out that what he stated actually made sense. When "those in the know" jump all over a story, one cannot tell if they are responding to the article or to their impression of the author or the person who is the topic.
He was absolutely spot on about how we have fostered an environment that entices illegals to "come on over", and that this factoid complicates the issue - just as the Left intended for it and just about anything they think up to destroy our Freedom.
Did anyone who jumped Perry even bother to think on his observation?
Yes, I'm sure he is. So were GHWB and GWB.
But they're also wrong, and that makes their intentions and personal attributes irrelevant.
Exactly.
It's the disingenuousness of the 'discussion' that fries me.
Those who want open borders should advocate for them.
When they say they aren't asking for open borders, yet propose policies that would have the same effect, that angers me.
It's rude to insult someone's intelligence.
Rick Perry is right in that a lot of illegals in fact most do come here to try to make more money and live a better life. You can have some empathy for their reason without agreeing to let 11-20 million of them get away with it.
Perry is only operating in the theater of what is real.
Gregg Abbott who I very much respect was just ballyhooed here recently for getting onboard popular sentiment over the BLM’s over reach.
His words were cautious but he took to popular sentiment.
If Abbott loses will we call him a traitor?
That is the sort of thing Perry is dealing with.
Reagan opened the gate, not Perry.
Well Reagan was duped into it.
But all that aside I bought into the Perry is a RINO in 2012 untll I finally realized by listening to his interviews and speeches, his book about states rights and his background that its not true.
In fact in that video interview Perry tries to say and gets sort of cut off that Mexico is finally starting to ramp up and they are creating a lot of jobs. Mexicans are starting to go back home to work. I had read that recently. Mexicans would much rather live in Mexico if they can make a living there. Between tightening up the controls here and more jobs in Mexico we don’t need to pass amnesty. The problem should start to alleviate itself. Better to incentivize them to go home.
I'm against open borders, and I'm against defacto open borders. I want the laws and borders enforced. I want no more of this grin and tickle about turning a blind eye to the invasion.
If he doesn't want to enforce the laws as they are he should say so, explain why, and make the case for changing the laws. But be honest.
There's no politician I agree with 100%, Perry included. That doesn't make him a bad person or a traitor. It just means we disagree. It's a fundamental disagreement.
If he runs he will face a conservative base who strongly differs with his position. Some of them are mouth breathers. That's life.
