A high school curriculum supported by Hobby Lobby chain president Steve Green, billed as a way to teach archaeology, history and the arts through Bible stories, also tells students God is always there in times of trouble and that sinners must suffer the consequences of disobeying.
The Mustang School Board in suburban Oklahoma City voted this month to place the Museum of the Bibles curriculum in its schools as an elective for a one-year trial after being assured that the intent is not to proselytize but to use the Bible to explain key principles in the arts and sciences.
While the course does explain the inspiration behind famous works of art and holds a prism to historical events, it also endorses behavior for religious reasons and implies that bad things happen as a direct result of disregarding Gods rules.

Well, yeah, that’s pretty much what the good book says....
Sounds like the AP writer took some liberty with the above considering it later says that it doesn't tell the kids what to believe.
It probably teaches :”the Bible says.....”
Wow, I must have missed something here. Doesn’t EVERY religion teach that the sinner will be punished? Heck, even humanist believe that society will punish the law breaker.
kids, never mind those religious nuts. Its okay to murder and steal.
Oy vey!
This is news in an anti judeo/christian culture, no...I guess it’s controversy
Oh wait, he is not referring to global warming.
Boo hoo, AP. The Truth hurts all liars.
So does "Sinners will suffer" fall under arts? Or sciences?
Cause and effect is generally science but could be art as well.
Not the Church of the SubGenius (tm), BoB is very tolerant and prefers admitted sinners over self-proclaimed Saints.
Of course a sinful action has coincidences.
I take a gun and shoot you in the foot.
You forgive me, God forgives me, I forgive myself, you still have a bullet in your foot and it is my responsibility to deal with that sinful action, whatever that maybe.
There is a difference between teaching children that society will punish law breakers, and that the Christian God will do it. That is clearly discriminatory to Jews, Muslims, Bhuddists, and Atheists and their belief systems. Public schools are state schools and this clearly violates Constitutional separation of church and state.
Not the religion of the commies in the white hut. Sinners are treated not equally but better than those who try to do right.
It seems like a distinction without a difference to me.
Before one can respond, one must know where you found said "Constitutional separation of church and state".
You might also explain how it might be differently applied to "State schools" vs. "Federal Schools" and "Private Schools".
I'm also puzzled on how explaining a religion is discriminatory to other religions and especially to those who profess no religion at all.
By “state” I meant any schools that were not private. When you tell children that God is going to punish them, rather than the laws of man, this is clearly a threat to anyone who does not profess that particular God. And this includes children of atheists who may then be worried for their parents and their own safety.
So, getting children to think on things is dangerous and wrong because it might be inconvenient to the way the children are being raised? One might suggest homeschooling for those who would insulate their children from reality.
BTW, I didn't see where you found the separation of Church and Stae in the Constitution or any of its Amendments - finding that gem would certainly add credence to your slant on how things should be. I'm for letting them learn all sides of issues, especially big issues, and be taught to develop their thinking and reasoning capabilities. It seems so much more useful than insulating them from what makes the world go 'round and keeping them from developing mature coping skills. I work around the product of doing it the Leftists way (finding non-existent rights in the Constitution and manufacturing Constitutional constrictions which also don't exist) and they are over sensitive, self-serving, immature globs of flesh that, when corrected, use coordinated, vindictive attacks to preserve their fantasy world that tells them they are useful and worthwhile just because they exist. I fear for what has happened to my military...
