On April 20, 2014, Cliven Bundy, who is at the heart of a large confrontation with the Federal Government over land and property rights and the over-reach of the Federal Government as a result of the Bundy Cattle Ranch, made some caustic comments about race in America. Most of the networks are not playing Cliven Bundy's full comments. I think it important, despite the fact that his words have understandably caused an uproar, to have the full context of what he said. So, before he talked about seeing black Americans in the project houses in Las Vegas and wondering about their abortion rates and crime rates and comparing that to their earlier history, here is how he prefaced those statements...something you will not hear from the main stream press: "I was in the WATTS riot, I seen the beginning fire and I seen the last fire. What I seen was civil disturbance. People were not happy, people was thinking they did not have their freedom; that they didnt have these things...and they didnt have them. So, Cliven Bundy made it clear that he was not advocating that the clock be turned back. He indicated up front that "We sure don't want to go back." But then he went on, and got controversial. After talking about seeing black Americans in government subsidized housing in Las Vegas, he said: "They were basically on government subsidy so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never, they never learned how to pick cotton. And Ive often wondered were they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things? Or are they better off under government subsidy?" Sorry, Cliven, the answer is clear. Slavery was (and is) horrible and intolerable. They were not "better," off. Perhaps Mr. Bundy does not undertsand that in slavery in the South, many (but not all) families were broken up and sold off because they were viewed as proprty. So musings about their family life is not something that can be compared in the least, or in any way be romaticized. However, that does not mean that minorities are in a "good," circumstance either. By any objective measure, the current state of affairs for black Americans, while not comparable with slavery, is, nonetheless, intolerable for almost all of them caught up in the social dependancy programs advocated and pushed by the liberal progressive politicans of the day. And there are reasons this is so, and those reasons MUST be explored. Under liberal, progressive programs, upon which the American people have spent trillions of dollars, the traditional black family (in terms of the demographics and overall percentages) has been destroyed. This is a tragedy. In the vast majority of cases, for those who get caught up in these liberal/progressive welfare programs, there is no father in the home. The government and its "payments," have taken his place. In addition, in most cases, with food, housing, and other subsidies, there is little ongoing income in the home from those who work to earn it. The abortion rate amongst their young women is indeed abhoridly high. They are litterally killing off their rising generations before they are ever born. The crime rates and the incarceration rates amongst balck youth is extrodinarily high, far above the average.
The rate for women living below the poverty level, particularly black women, is over four times that for women living above it. INCARCERATION RATES BY RACE Why are all of these things so? Mr. Bundy's question about the state of affairs for these people today, while phrased completely inappropriately, and which is now being used to completely marginalize Bundy by people who, like Harry Reid, have institutionalized criminal behavior and shady dealings, is an important question. However, the thing that really scares the progressive left, is that this question, if phrased properly, would be compelling. and it would be critical, particularly for black American, to sincerely ask themselves...and to explore all of the facts associated with it. And the left knows it, and fears it. Simply stated: Have these government subsidy programs, which have produced these abysmal conditions and demographics, and which have themselves been designed to entrap whole peoples into a dependancy cycle engineered to harvest votse...have they worked? Are the people who are living under such programs and conditions better off under such a system than they would be if they simply engaged in today's traditional American, free enterprise life style? The answer to that question is obvious and clear. The answer is a resounding NO, they are not! All one need do is look at those who have forsaken the dependancy life style and the associated programs so that they, themselves, could get into main stream America, and then compare their life styles, their families, their crime rates, their income levels to those who do not. There is no comparison...and the liberal, progressive left knows it. Black and Latino Americans: For God's Sake, Wake up ! These is are the conditions that the progressive liberals do not want discussed. They do not want it explored. Objectively exploring it would quickly become an abject indictment against their policies...and reveal them for what they are. Those policies themselves are extremely bigoted towards anyone who gets caught up in them, particularly Blacks and Latinos. They are because they pre-suppose that those people require the help of liberal progressives in order to have any chance of achieving anything in America. It presuppose that without help from them, those people would not be capable of achieving anything. Such a notion itself is bigoted and racist. Those people, who have been created by God, are capable of engagining and making something of themselves themselves, without liberal dependencies. The basic progressive liberal suppostion behind these programs is a lie. In fact, it is worse than a lie. These programs entrap people and virtually ensure that they will NEVER make anything better of themselves under the American system. They have been engineered to deny the people caught up in them participation in the American system. That's what they are designed to do, and they are desinged that way so that those people will constantly be dependent on the politicians who promise them all of these subsidies so that they will always vote for them. That is why they refer to them as "their," voting block. If discussed openly and fairly, it would reveal the dastardly, horrible...and immoral and criminal behavior...of the liberal progressives who establish such programs, and the race hustlers (like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson) who support them and have gotten rich off of making a career of promoting them and attacking anyone who dares oppose them. That's the simple, direct truth. These programs are holding people down, and are set up to keep it that way. The reason is as old as this earth. It is about power. Those politicans want to always count on their "voting block," and thus perpetuate their power. While it is certainly not a physical slavery, it is insidious just the same. The fact is, you can tell by the actions of the politicans who support these programs, by their shrill opposition to any scrutiny of these things, and by their determination to squash and destroy anyone who attempts to expose this sad state of affairs, that the people promoting these programs certainly consider the blacks and the hispanics, and anyone else who fall into their clutches, to be their electoral "property." And they are as committed to retaining that "ownership," and that "property," as strongly and with as much force and compulsion as any southern plantation owner ever was. In that sense, although phrased wholly inappropriatley, Cliven Bundy's question about today's state of minorities who are caught up in this cycle of dependancy, hits the mark. The progrewssive liberal politicans and hustlers will not...indeed, in their mind they cannot...tolerate it. Former supporters of Bundy in his fight against the Federal government will now be labeled as racists themselves if they continue to support anything assoiciated with Bundy. That's why many of those supporters are now shrinking away from him under that threat of a racist label. Instead, they should recognize the true issues at stake here and continue the fight against an all intrusive federal government. A government where particular agencies daily commit wanton over-reach. They should also raise the topic of the tradtional American way of life, and its focus on fundamental moral values and everyone being created equal, with equal opportunity. They should strive to inform and raise up all those caught up in this awful, paralyzing, dependancy cycle. A cycle which has been created by those liberal progressives and officials who themselves have stated that their goal is to fundamentally change the American system. It is clear that they continue to do all in the power to accomplish that goal. We must continue to stand up and defeat them. “Cliven Bundy, who is well into his seventies”
He’s 67. He’ll turn 68 on April 29.

Right off the bat, I have felt that attacks against Cliven Bundy were nothing but a pro-Obama, leftist witch hunt.
Unfortunately none of what you posted is manifested when he opens his mouth and inserts his foot. It is unfortunate. He needs to shut up.
That’s your opinion. We differ.
Agreed 100%.
Amen to every bit of that. spot on!
We do indeed.
IMHO, we all get into a world of hurt when we think we have to have others parse our words for us...to make sure we are somehow passing someone else's litmus test.
So Cliven Bundy has a few warts. We all do.
What he stood up for against the Federal government was worth standing up for.
The answer he gave to the news reported (which I am almost 100% sure was a set up), though not eloquent, did hit on a critical issue in our country. And that issue is the way the liberal progressives are using the federal government to enslave whole groups of people. Economic, mental, and emotional slavery perhaps...but slavery just the same.
I feel sorry for Bundy, but also the rest of us, as well. Disappointing how eager some radio and TV folks are to be concerned about what the libtards think. The right answer was, “who the hell gave the NY Slimes the right to decide an American can be destroyed for telling the feral gummint to kiss his butt. WhatEVER else they claim he has done or said?”. Not in this day of gummint run amuck. I suppose if they could dredge up pedophilia I would reconsider. If he was to turn up homo he’d be a damn HERO to the NY Slimes so that’s pretty unlikely.
Jason Bullock is also a black Amereican.
Here's what he had to say about Cliven Bundy when asked by CNN if Mr. Bundy's remarks on race offended him.
"No, not at all. Mr. Bundy is not a racist.
"Ever since I've been here, he's treated me with nothing but hospitality. He's pretty much treating me just like his own family.
"I would take a bullet for that man if need be. I look up to him just like I do my own grandfather.
"I believe in his cause and after having met Mr. Bundy, I have a really good feel about him and I'm a pretty good judge of character."
That pretty much speaks for itself.
I believe CCN has a video of that interview with Bullock.
As well as slavery in the north. Slavery was not exclusive to the southern U.S. Why point out only the south?
This man's name is Jason Bullock. He is a is a six-year Army veteran who is out in Nevada and has volunteered to serve as one of Cliven Bundy's bodyguards.
As you can see, Jason Bullock is also a black American.
That's what he had to say about Cliven Bundy, early this week, after Bundy's remarks were widly reported, and when CNN interviewed Bullock and asked him if Cliven Bundy's remarks had offended him.
"No, not at all. Mr. Bundy is not a racist.
"Ever since I've been here, he's treated me with nothing but hospitality. He's pretty much treating me just like his own family.
"I would take a bullet for that man if need be. I look up to him just like I do my own grandfather. I believe in his cause and after having met Mr. Bundy, I have a really good feeling about him and I'm a pretty good judge of character."
That pretty much speaks for itself.
That video that I posted above, of Bundy's Black Militia Bodyguard says all that needs to be said.
You're just in our way.
Leni
No.
If you do not want to talk aabout it...then you are free to go to another thread.
As it is, the issue of how the government social welfare/subsidy programs are destroying whole groups of people is a very valid one, and Bundy was right to point it out.
Parse words? I ‘seen’ the video (Bundy speak). It’s painful to watch. However Bundy is a victim. Victims can be all sorts of people - good, bad, ugly. They can have warped views about all sorts of things. Thus Bundy would be well advised to shut up so the focus is shifted away from his views to the feds’ seizure of land and cattle. We need to stay on offense.
I agree with that sentiment without reservation. I suggest, however, that we conservatives don’t need to rehash Bundy’s malapropism over and over. That allows the other side to set the terms of debate.
The issue is federal overreach, not Bundy’s lack of media savvy.
Well, if stating my opinion about Bundy’s comments is your (abb) version of “rehashing Bundy’s malapropism,” then we disagree fundamentally.
As I say, the issue of how the government social welfare/subsidy programs are destroying whole groups of people is a very valid one, and Bundy was right to point it out. it is part and parcel of the sme issue, and Bundy recognizes this.
As to parsing words, plain talk, yes. When you have to have a PR spokesmen speak for you to somehow ensure that your words do not offend anyone, that’s what I would call it.
But we do not need any such thing now. We now have a veteran who is one of Bundy’s militia body guards, who has spent a lot of time there, and who is also black who is defending Bundy, and speaking very directly to CNN on why.
I’d watch that if you have not already.
In addition, we also have a verteran US Marine, who is also black, who has spent time with Bundy saying exactly the same thing and taking issue with the media’s portrayal, and taking to task people like Beck and Hannity who are deserting Bundy.
Those guys would be in a position to perhaps know more about the man, and the fact that they are black and still defending him, depsite his comments...and agreeing with him...seems to speak pretty clearly for itself.
I will go with their opinions and their take on the matter.
Well have a nice weekend jeff. I’ve said all I need to say about it.
