The Tea Party candidate challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to a primary challenge has been caught in an undercover video attending a cockfighting rally last month and there is evidence that he lied repeatedly about the event.
Matt Bevin, who is seeking to wrest Kentuckys Republican Senate nomination from McConnell, and his campaign have said they thought it was a states rights rally he attended in Corbin, but in the undercover video from WAVE 3 News its clear what the event is about with signs supporting the legalizing of cockfighting. Bevin even speaks right after a cockfighting activist who explained clearly why they were: For the sole purpose of legalizing gamecock fighting at the state level.
The video emerged less than a month before the May 20 primary vote.

“Twenty years from now, we will all remember the time when the East Coast con-man thought so little of Kentuckians that he pathologically lied to us about absolutely everything until an undercover camera caught him red-handed at a cockfighting rally, McConnell press secretary Allison Moore said.”
Such statements suggest a campaign that knows it is in trouble. McConnell’s team surely realizes they not only need to fend off Bevin’s challenge, they have to destroy him so completely as a viable option that they have a chance to bring enough of the base home in time to beat Allison Grimes in the general.
I don’t think it’s going to work. McConnell is probably going to be beat Bevin (I haven’t look at the latest numbers, just a gut feeling), but I don’t think he’s going to beat Grimes. IMHO, McConnell is what Lugar was in Indiana a couple years back, only on steroids: a guy in office so long he’s perceived as having long forgotten his state roots (and values) and become a creature of the Beltway.
(BTW, I have no love for cockfighting or the like, just commenting on McConnell’s response).
Actually, it’s “Leetle Yerry” ... funny stuff!
The winner is clear when the loser runs off. If cocks are allowed to fight naturally, I'd see nothing wrong with legalizing the sport.
That being said, Bevin probably just assured the turtle's re-election. Sad.
Cool, McConnell’s literally helping destroy our economy, but lets be concerned about this. Totally out of proportion, as usual.
After Obama’s long storied history with Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, nothing matters anymore. Not even what positions you say you support (Obama lied about all of them).
But I suppose we have to hold “our” candidates to the old standard when even the RINOs aren’t playing by those rules anymore.
I think it’s time to come out with a video of McConnell involved in...cat juggling!
I do not see the problem. How come politicians who want to legalize drugs or attend NAMBLA parades are not treated like this? Rallying for killing babies is not a scandal somehow.
All that you said...but not only that, the failure to engage in exactly the same kind of smear tactics is an automatic disadvantage and gains no points in an electorate that couldn’t give the slightest crap about integrity or other forms of truth telling.
So can any Freepers in KY tell me if Bevin has any chance? The polling I see is dismal. And yeah, still early, always tough to read the tea leaves sometimes, but I don’t see this one as looking god.
some freepers will abandon ship everytime the MSM creates a bogus scandal
When I was a boy, we called it sword fighting. :)
McConnell works in a place where RINOs fight all the time - against Conservatives.
F' em.
1. Bevin didn’t attend a cockfight. It was a rally. For states rights.
2. McConnell’s election team is working with Stephen Colbert to put out attack ads (it’s in the article!)
The headline should read:
Liberal Stephen Colbert Working With Mitch McConnell to Create Attack Ads
Well...
Bye...
Sadly.
I live in central KY. I wouldn’t know how to even find a cockfight. This whole thing is just wierd.
