Intro:
You cant handle the truth! Jack Nicholson shouted at Tom Cruise during the climactic court-martial scene in the movie A Few Good Men.
Caught in a lie that exposed his above-the-law mentality, Nicholsons character, Col. Nathan Jessup, justifies his lawlessness by declaring, I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it!
Its a riveting scene, pitting security against the rule of law. But before agreeing with Jessup that lawfulness conflicts with freedom, think again. Truthfulness and equality under the law are essential to freedom, justice and the trust that binds civil society.
FURTHER ON:
In congressional testimony earlier this year, Englebrecht evoked Patrick Henrys liberty or death oration, declaring, I will not ask for permission to exercise my constitutional rights.
Refusing to rest until justice is served, shes filed an ethics complaint against Cummings and a lawsuit against the IRS.
Recall that, as Jessup learned upon his arrest, justice requires accountability, which depends on an active and independent news media, an informed citizenry and a shared belief that the truth and the rule of law matter.
All were present during Watergate, though not today. Instead, we depend on embattled citizens like Englebrecht to fight for the truth in a system that decrees the law must apply equally to everyone, even government officials.

Harry: "Hey Barry, Hail Hydra!"
American Freedom is almost entirely LOST
because of the typical abdication of Issa
and the typical CRIMINALITY of Cummings.
The bureaucracy is interested in itself. Not you.
I would not have believed that any more law enforcement was even possible, but I was wrong.
Yesterday morning I was in a local clinic getting blood drawn for a physical next week. There was another guy there also getting blood drawn. He wore a khaki colored uniform with a Water Department patch on his shoulder. He was also wearing a Kevlar vest and had a holdstered Glock on his hip right next to 12 other contraptions (hand cuffs, flashlight, ...) on his utility belt.
Why does someone working for the Water Department need all that tactical gear?
Great find, thanks!
IF this is the main point of the article:
“ - - - Because humans are inclined to believe their ends are virtuous enough to justify immoral means, Americas founders designed a liberty-preserving system to thwart excessive government power. - - - “
THEN please find and post another article that addresses what “Checks and Balances” are not being used by the politicians that we pay to protect us from our current Democrat-controlled Federal Government.
If *anybody* ever said to me “you can’t handle the truth” I would feel perfectly justified in blowing their brains out and urinating on the corpse.
*ANYONE*
