(Reuters) - Two Republican U.S. senators who voiced support for a Nevada cattleman in his showdown with federal agents over grazing rights on public land condemned the rebellious rancher's remarks about whether African-Americans would be "better off as slaves."

His commentary was factual. Everything he said can be supported with facts, from the very government responsible.

He was not derisive in his comments. They were made out of concern, and not racism.

It is also a fact that I have heard similar comments from various black leaders, pastors, and even a hollywood actor or two.

Your perception is just wrong. You need to rethink it.

Cliven Bundy was talking about the slavery of the Big Government when people become dependent on it for everything. That we can agree on. His mistake was to use language that was not politically savvy to know how the Left will use it against him. It is offensive to call a African American a “Negro.” Because of that, he opened himself up to the demonization tactic of Alinski politics. The Left’s primary weapon is the Race Card. They will use it at every opportunity. Bundy’s misfortune is he does not have the political savvy to know how to keep himself out of trouble.

No it can’t. He painted every black person with that broad brush.
I live in Austin I work with lots of black people who have never had an abortion or been on food stamps. Who have college degrees and professional jobs...Mr. Bundy skipped all that when he brought race into it.
He should have said that any people dependent on govt were enslaved. Big govt is the bane of all of us.
He didn’t say that....it was just not smart.

See the full video of what Bundy said. The MSM is doing a Palin and Bachmann on Bundy. See it. It will change your minds.

You should have called your Chinese correspondent a racist for thinking because you were white, you were a racist. And, he proves his racism because he was willing to twist the meaning of your discourse to fit his preconceived stereotypes of you. I call it, “the pot calling the kettle black.” And if one finds racist objection in the use of the black pot analogy, that objection proves your charge of a racism that imparts racist meaning to a person because of their color.

That's a major part of your perception problem.

He obviously (without the need to issue disclaimers like a politician would) did not mean “All Black People”.

You have to take his words literally to come up with crap like that.

That's the point of the spear of the political correctness assault, is to take a phrase or sentence literally without the context of the verbal exchange.

His point was about the damages government has done to blacks, not about blacks.

If I were to use your version of correct speaking in public. Every sentence uttered would require disclaimers saying I did not mean this or I did not mean that...endlessly adding words without saying squat about what you wanted to say to begin with.

That is political correctness. By the way, I too live in the South. But I am a transplanted Yankee from Wisconsin, born in Washington State.. I to am sensitive to illconcieved beliefs of many in the North and East about Southerners. I resent it. But I refuse to compensate for it as many do, to avoid confrontations with people who hold those views. I think what you might be doing is compensating. In that way you think you are protected from criticism. You might also be influenced by either college professors or people in your orbit who have disdain for racial conversations or discussions and avoid them like the plaque. I don't do that anymore. I did once and it really bothered me because there was so much that needed saying. Time to hit the rack.....have a good night..

“Currently in Arkansas...will be in Alabama in about ten days..”

Wow Arkansas...Home of Orval Faubus. Every body there is a racist. Home of Walmart...You’re a supporter of cheap Chinese imports that costs American jobs. Hope Arkansas. Home of BIll Clinton. You’re a Clinton supporter.

See how that broad brush works.
I’m sure you’re not associated with any of those. I’m sure you’re not a racist but rather a freedom loving American citizen.
That stereotype BS is where we get derailed.

But....it’s the same BS no matter who uses it.

I stuck around just to see what you would say when I answered that question, which was a obvious set up for your intended reply.

That's too bad, because I thought you were perhaps smarter than that. But you proved to be right in line with your screen name...”snarky”

You made no salient point with those remarks. But you did tell me something important for me to respond one more time.

It is actually you who has the preconceived notions about race. You projected those notions on to Bundy and thereby was able to justify the wrongheaded idea that his comments were racist because he must be a racist.

Pretty much the same thing that the Chinese guy I mentioned a couple posts ago, did to me.

Just food for thought....as I retire for the night.

And proof of my contention that race is not talked about enough and honestly enough since Obama has been imaculated. By the time he leaves office, he and his minions and his Attorney General will have done more damage to race relations then all of the 1960s that I lived through. Teargas and all....

I said it was dumb. It sounds racist. Whether Mr. Bundy is racist or not....that’s a personal decision. However. Going in front of the national media and being any of the following: Racist....Unprepared....Unaware...or even just belligerently dumb, is not smart.

I don’t give two $hits what your personal beliefs are.
But defending somebody who so obviously screwed the pooch...and in the most publicly way possible.....well that’s not smart either.

People rallied to Bundys cause. That’s been blown.
Agree...disagree....like it...hate it...accept it...deny it...none of that changes the fact that he put his foot....both feet...in his mouth.

He had a very real standard to rally to. He blew it.
That’s all I’m saying. Time will bear that out. Watch and see.

“What he said, may not have been the most politically sensitive, but it wasn't’t blatantly racist.”..........

Having watched the video when he made his statement, I DID NOT receive his message as being racist. Once again, the media whores have taken his words, twisted them to sound racist (they do that all the time) and people swallowed their BS, hook line and sinker. The “uninformed” are reading the wrong reports, be damned what Bundy ACTUALLY said.

I don’t know. We have been bending over backwards for an entire generation to avoid ever acting like “racists”. What he said, may not have been the most politically sensitive, but it wasn’t blatantly racist. I like the way he didn’t backtrack, and am inclined to think this could backfire on Dems bigtime. Would have preferred he hadn’t said anything, but he seems to be handling himself ok.

I tend to agree with you. I don't think the problem is that he made the statements. The problem is that our side is so afraid of the Truth that they let those who hate the Truth to dictate our stance. We claim to believe in and support the Truth, then cave and let the Left win the debate by default and our pussy attempts to "prove we're not racists". They double down on the most heinous stances and activities and we back down from any form of conflict when it actually espouses our supposed beliefs.

Greta didn't waste two seconds last night castigating Bundy in a very curt, imperious way. Likewise the Bloviator. I didn't catch Megan and Hannity, so I don't know if they followed suit.

Last night should have cured conservatives who still think that Greta is conservative or "moderate"....and that she's the cat's pajamas just 'cause she's such a "great interviewer".

Scratch Greta and you find an elite establishment liberal. She could never understand an unsophisticated fly-over guy like Mr. Bundy. Nor would she deign to.

You know it’s funny how a person cannot even bring up the issue of past slavery to compare it to how the government is dealing with it’s citizens now. Have we really become such hyper-sensitive little idiots in this country? They willingly take words out of context to fit their agenda.

I think he brought the black race into it because they were of course the ones who made up the majority race of those who were slaves correct?

It’s all about Context. Ya know?

It’s funny how some black people want to get in the media and talk about slavery and refer back to it when they want to become victims but if a white man refers to slavery and compares it to something else there’s an uproar. Double standards eh?
