"That's exactly what I said. I said I'm wondering if they're better off under government subsidy, and their young women are having the abortions and their young men are in jail, and their older women and their children are standing, sitting out on the cement porch without nothing to do, you know, I'm wondering: Are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were when they were slaves, and they was able to have their family structure together, and the chickens and garden, and the people had something to do? And so, in my mind I'm wondering, are they better off being slaves, in that sense, or better off being slaves to the United States government, in the sense of the subsidies. I'm wondering. That's what. And the statement was right. I am wondering."

So we have to be politically correct to have constitutionally protected rights?
Not at all.
Especially if you live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
“That is the point. Bundy just doesn’t get it, and too many FRiends here are supporting slavery.”
You don’t get it, NOBODY is supporting slavery. The issue is the black culture under democrat rule is as bad off if not worse then it was under Democrat formal slavery.
Only a person with a dishonest agenda would twist what was said into supporting slavery.
Who here is supporting slavery??
The next BLM army to attack the Bundy ranch will be predominantly minority in composition so that if one is killed the shooter can be charged with a hate crime.
The media would have orgasms if that happened.
“Stick a fork in Bundy, he is done.”
The ones talking like that never supported The People in this standoff in the first place; Americans don’t tuck tail and run at the first sign of the propaganda war.
He did NOT say that, so it isn’t racist.
I heard it myself.
He began by saying that WE DON’T WANT TO GO BACK: but he was talking about bureaucracies and government control, and he worries, given abortion, shootings, no jobs, that welfare slavery is just as bad as plantation slavery. He says you got to “WONDER” if they would be better off.
Is that saying “they would probably be better off.”
He’s being real humble and trying to be helpful, he’s not yelling, and then he talks about Mexicans. He says they have great families, work hard, pay taxes, and we should try to keep them here. Wants everyone to know that.
That was NOT a racist rant. You need to listen to it for yourself. The Mexican piece is the kicker...he DEFINITELY was being so inclusive that most here on Free Republic would kick him to the curb for wanting amnesty.
This guy’s problem is that he’s been out tending cattle instead of learning on TV how to use the word black instead of “colored”. But, I’m telling you his tone was very concerned and trying to be helpful.
’How to you know how most slaves were treated?’ Human beings owned as property, from birth, with no rights or legal recourse.”
Like blacks are today in American Democrat owned Ghettos. That was the point, its as bad if not worse today. Same masters.
I’m wondering if Cliven Bundy has paid any grazing fees for the cattle he runs on our public land?
“What a dummy. He should have known better than to talk like that. Its very hard to defend him now.”
No it’s not, the issue is land rights and Govt Tyranny. Not liberal PC garbage.
“Doesnt explain how most slaves were treated.”
Human beings were treated like property to do with what their owner wanted. That should be all that’s required to condemn it, outright, with no equivocation.
No. Like actual slavery.
“The only way this guy could have won was getting the public on his side.”
Liberal Talking Point fail. He ain’t losing no support. Its about Reid’s Tyrannical attempted land grab, nothing else.
Stick to the truth- nobody said that.
This was my response to the earlier reports of Bundy’s comments:
It is coincidental that I was just discussing something similar to Bundys statement with my husband. I asked him if he thought that that the Progressive treatment of Blacks had similarities to the treatment of Native Americans and the reservation system. I was thinking about the effects of government dependency that destroyed the culture and the need to work to support themselves and their families. I was thinking how government dependency led to alcohol and drug dependency, all because the need to work was taken away.
My husband pointed out that the Blacks were much more amenable to government dependency than the Indians and that the Blacks werent put on reservations, but many of the Blacks were self segregating. The urban ghettos have a lot in common with reservations, except that they have no self government.
Where Bundy went wrong was saying that the Blacks would have been better off as slaves. I dont think that is exactly what he meant. I think that he meant that moving from slavery to government dependency was a Pyrrhic victory. Slavery was ended just about the time that Whites were forming Trade Unions which were closed to Black membership, leaving uneducated Blacks to work in only the most menial jobs, formerly performed by slaves in many cases.
I have not seen it written anywhere, but I would not be surprised if the push to empower the public sector unions over the trade unions was not partially based on some level of social justice for the former racist hiring practiced advocated by trade unions.
“I wondered how long it would take the Rats to pull out the Race Card.
Not long. Not long at all.”
I’d say Mr Bundy pulled out the race card.
He should have stuck to talking about his issue.
He really shot himself in both feet.
Sorry, you don't get it. Today, a black man can free himself from the yolk of government dependence. A slave could not do that. A slave has no liberty. A welfare dependent can change his or her life.
Bundy said blacks were better off as slaves and people here are agreeing with him.
Bundy didn’t mean it the way it came out. He meant that the end of slavery was a Pyrrhic victory, trading one form of slavery for another, a slavery to government dependency.
Bundy’s poor grammar explains why he couldn’t explain what he was thinking. It wasn’t racist. It was the truth, kind of like when Larry Summers said that women weren’t as accomplished in math and engineering as men. It came out wrong.
Not to mention that stating that slaves were able to keep their family structure together is historically inaccurate anyway. Slave families were routinely split up when owners sold family members to other plantation owners.
