Well, doesn’t matter now. Dog is dead and cop is on paid vacation. Cops can do no wrong.

I’m not saying they can do no wrong. My first response clearly indicated I do not trust them around dogs.

I would just like to see the actual dash cam video first, before making another stupid cop judgment.

Blue Heelers are awesome dogs on a farm, ranch, and super loyal family dogs. All those things that make them great for the farm and family can also make them appear dangerous to a stranger entering the property.

Maverick, a cattle dog I am currently working with, has a strong herding instinct. I would bet most folks here on FR would not be able to distinguish Mav herding you off the property vs. Mav being a threat to your safety. Also keep in mind working breeds like cattle dogs/heelers etc. have a strong territorial drive to defend.

I am beginning to think more and more we expect too much out of these cops. What is surprising that with so many people owning dogs, some level of behavior training does not take place or are they simply being trained to not take the risk of a bite and shoot first.
