75-year-old grandmother says she was restrained during police raid

HENRICO, Va. (WTVR) –Ruth Hunter, a 75-year-old woman, said she was tied up while State Police invaded her Henrico apartment. She said officers told her during the raid what they were looking for, and court documents also show the information. She said she had nothing to do with the investigation. Virginia State Police said a drug investigation is what prompted a Henrico County magistrate to issue a warrant for an apartment in the 5600 block of Crenshaw road. The woman claims that officers ultimately arrested a man who lives two doors down from her. “I thought someone was breaking in to rob or kill me,” Hunter said. Seconds after her front door flies open Hunter said she heard a voice yell “Police!” “…Took my hands with a tie-thing and said ‘You’re under arrest’ and started asking questions,” she recalled. “The more I told them I didn’t know these people, the more he continued.”

The article doesn’t mention it, but I can assume all the officers went home safe. That’s what really matters.

Were any dogs harmed in the home invasion?

“Hunter says the early morning raid haunts her to the point where she’s moving out, but not before delivering this message to those she says stood over top of her as she was frightened out of bed.

“I’m very irritated and angry, he never said I’m sorry, never apologized for having the wrong house…he said you got to get someone to fix that door.”

The police should have to at least pay for her door. It’s all a big joke until it happens to you.

Yep...and they wonder why public opinion is turning against them.

There need to be penalties for both the cops and the courts for getting the wrong address and for mistreating innocents.

Absolutely. But I guess they want us to get used to the idea of armed thugs with badges busting down our doors in the middle of the night.

Is there a “whoops wrong house/cops gone wild” FR keyword yet? How about a “Cops vs. Canines” keyword? See: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/04/23/texas-farmer-calls-police-to-report-a-break-in-when-a-deputy-arrived-hours-later-his-nightmare-began/

I know “donutwatch” is one FR keyword for situations like this.

Then after the druggies down the hall are captured and arrested and tried they go to jail only to be pardoned by the treacherous despotical tyrant in the White House to save money

“It’s all a big joke until it happens to you”.

Maybe some liberals in our society think it is a hoot but not here on FR. To me, when I see a 75 year old Grandmother being man-handled like that.. I see my Mom. When I read an article about some teen being beaten.. I see my son. Any injustice done to law abiding people.. I see someone in my family or close friends. It’s not a joke at all... it frightens and infuriates me at the same time. Hugs.

I understand mistakes happen but their cavalier attitude is what really makes me furious. “Get someone to fix that door”. Sickening.

It’s scary what cops get away with. And it is getting worse. No accountability. Just like the federal government.

They have no sympathy or empathy. You and I see a frightened 75 year old woman.. alone and dealing with thugs. THEY see a “citizen”. That is a cop’s mentality. (not all but seems like quite a lot these days). There are cops and cop’s families and then there are citizens.. all lumped together. It is sickening and frightening as well... since you and I are “citizens”. Our parents/children/neighbors are citizens.

Ironic isn't it, considering what 'cop' stand for in the first place.
