Would you support raising San Diegos minimum wage to $13.09 an hour over the next three years?
(Excerpt) Read more at utsandiego.com ...
They should increase it to $20/hr and make it immediately instead of phasing it in. The poor can’t wait 3 years for it. Do it now! Lets see the immediate effect
There shouldn’t be a minimum wage at any time!
I would agree. Make it twenty and let’s just stand back to watch the soap opera unfold. The fat lady will sing forty different tunes in sixty seconds flat, and then collapse under her own weight on the stage.
At least at twenty...McDonalds will finally automate everything and have a normal shift of four guys instead of sixteen. We can get the French Fry guy back out on the street....hustling Milky Ways to motorists driving to work in the morning.
Of course, it's supported by the labor unions. Many union contracts define wages to be paid as some multiple of minimum wage.
Robot hamburger factory makes 360 Gourmet Burgers every hour...

An invention whose greatest contribution might be ending the "minimum wage"....
Absolutely! 100% Y.E.S. - They can raise the minimum wage to whatever number tickles their fancy right after I meet the Lord in the air.
The unions know their membership's wages are pegged to the minimum wage. Any increase in the minimum wage will increase union wages proportionally. An increase in wages will jack up union dues. The dues money will be used for Democrat candidate political campaigns and socialist voter initiatives.
When union state worker wages go up, it demands more taxes to pay for them. The increase in the minimum wage is all about unions.
For kids trying to enter the labor force, they will continue to live with their parents who will foot the bill at a time when they need to save for their retirement.
Finally, the minimal gain through a minimum wage increase will get eaten up through inflation. Meanwhile, the true driving force for higher wages, business prosperity, will be set back through the economic impact from the artificial nature of a minimum wage increase.
Yes, there are a few still around.
ONE young woman was running the whole restaurant.
Taking orders, pouring drinks, making and baking pizzas.
If the libs are so stupid that they'll go through with this, look for EVERY restaurant to go to a skeleton crew.
And if you're going to pay $13, or $15 per hour, hire someone who can speak English, and cannot get a paying job elsewhere.
So we'll see poli-sci majors and philosophy majors working at Applebees.
I see the upside as being you'll get someone who is grateful to have a job.
The downside, of course, is that the low skill, low intelligence workers will be SOL.
Then again, what liberal "feel good" legislation has NOT hurt the working poor?
I can't think of one policy.
Shakeys! brings back childhood memories..they still serve mojos?
Agree with your assessment, they’ll just stop hiring & current employees will wears many more hats. Good job libs!
Indeed it is. The labor unions lost the mayoral race in spite of dumping millions into trying to elect Alvarez. But they're still trying to employ their socialist agenda. Thankfully, Faulconer opposes this. We can only hope San Diego businesses can counter the funding the unions are sure to throw in. We'll see.
And yes, they do have the mojos. But we didn't order them.
I don't know why, but I had a jones for that pizza today. Gotta love the thin crust.
The one we went to was an 80s upgrade that has never changed. A faded Pac Man and pinball machine.
My wife and I reminisced about Shakey's in the '70s. Since we both come from humble beginnings, we remembered what a rare treat it was to go to one.
Usually on my birthday.
Or a baseball team party.
We remembered the old movies on the screen, watching the people making the pizzas behind the window, and guys playing banjo.
No, they don't have that anymore.
But the pizza was the same, and we loved it.
i support $50/hr. why be stingy?
the only thing to do is step back and let the idiots destroy themselves as quick as possible.
lets raise it to 50..50..why not 100 and solve unemployment and hunger in one go..
it so simple, why limit ourselves to a paltry 13.09.
i love the .09, that to make it look like they actually worked on this as an exact science....priceless
Why only $20/hour? Make it $50/hour, and then 100% of workers could be above average.
Why $13.09 lets make it $100 an hour that will cure being poor. Idiots. Its California what would you expect.
What does the nine cents mean? Why Obama’s $10.10, Numerology?
