The Boy Scouts’ image, once defined by idyllic Norman Rockwell paintings, has suffered during the contentious debate over whether [homosexual] youths and adults should be allowed to participate in Scouting, according to a public opinion poll.
Rasmussen Reports, an independent polling firm, asked the following question in a telephone survey: “Do you have a very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat unfavorable, or very unfavorable impression of the Boy Scouts of America?”
According to the poll, 59 percent of American adults have a very favorable or somewhat favorable opinion of the Boy Scouts. That’s a 6-point drop since last May, and a 14-point drop since February 2012.

Twenty-one percent of respondents said they had a very favorable opinion of the organization — down from 40 percent two years ago.
Fran Coombs, managing editor of Rasmussen Reports, said the polling data shed no direct light on why an increasing number of Americans seem to be developing negative feelings about the Boy Scouts of America.
But he added, “As a lay person, the only thing I see about Scouts that has risen to the surface is the [homosexual] issue.”

I love my country, but there are a lot of really stupid, or evil, people out there.
How to reconcile the two notions?
The BSA shouldn’t have surrendered to the homosexual mafia. The same thing is going to happen to Chik-fil-A.
pathetic organization. The only one more pathetic are the abortion-loving girl scouts.
Does the poll differentiate between those who are unfavorable toward the Scouts because they “discriminate” against homos and those whose favorability dropped because they partially caved to the homos? Sounds like another episode in “How To Lie with Statistics”.
I’m still proud of the Boy Scouts, especially OA members and Eagle Scouts. Anyone who dislikes the Boy Scouts because they have principles that they refuse to compromise can get bent.
Hang tough, we don’t want the nea sayers.
Well, when a group gives up it’s strong values held for over 100+ years to homofacists what would they expect.

I’ll speculate that the 14% drop since 2012 is almost entirely white Democrats.

Who can believe it?
Everyone I knew, along with myself, were Boy Scouts back in the 50s. Scouts, like most everything decent about America is soon to be gone with the wind.
I used to hold the Scouts in the highest esteem possible. But once they caved like pathetic cowards to the homo-fascists, I lost every shred of respect I once had for them. I look upon the organization with nothing but utter contempt now.
Maybe it’s because Lord Baden-Powell originally meant for Scouting to be an environment where an urbanized child grew into full healthy manhood. But like everything else we have somehow managed to twist that concept into oblivion.
The national scout council stands for everything that scouting is supposed to be against.

BSA leaders voted last May to amend their long-standing membership policy and allow openly gay youths to participate in Scouting. But the new policy still bars openly gay adults from becoming Scoutmasters or serving as paid staff at BSA councils throughout the nation.
