Members of the Sierra Clubs board of directors are driving around in gas-guzzling vehicles, despite the groups support for the Obama administrations increased fuel efficiency standards.
The Sierra Club strongly supported the Obama administrations increase in minimum fuel economy standards to 54.4 miles per gallon (mpg) by 2025, but it seems the Clubs top officials dont practice what they preach.
The Sierra Clubs 15-member board of directors own a combined 32 vehicles, less than one-fifth of which are hybrids or electric vehicles. Seven of the 32 vehicles are sports utility vehicles while only six are hybrids and electric cars, according to data gathered by the Environmental Policy Alliance.

They are not here to practice what they preach.
They are too important for that.
They are here to make sure the little people do as they are told.
Look, you peasants, do as we say not as we do.
There should be a general rule that nobody should be allowed to recommend or legislate things that they themselves are exempt from.
Of course we, the anointed, the elite, we don’t live by the rules and restrictions we impose on you great unwashed ignorant hoi polloi... For the greater good of gaia.
Grand parents John and Bonnie?
Some “top officials” are more equal than others. It is ok for Sierra Clubers to castigate others for their SUVs, big houses, jets, etc. But the SC’s own top officials are more equal and thus above such petty concerns... ;-/
Just the usual self serving hypocrites, do as I say not as I do.
Why not? They are up to date on their carbon credits, and besides, some pigs are more equal than others.
Of course. The elite want the 99% to live in squalor while they are free to indulge.
We don’t have enough resources on this planet for everyone to consume like they do so of course they want to limit it for most.
It shows how much better they are than the rest of us.
Back around 2000 when I was Senior Ed. at Off-Road.com, we caught the local Sierra chapter planning and advertizing a trip for members that went deep into closed to OHV land. We had their flyer and everything. Had them dead to rights.
After doing a couple articles on it and milking the hypocrisy mercilessly, The sierra Club Legal Defense Fund graced us with a call informing us that we would be sued unless we retracted. I had the sheer joy of telling the idiots that we had lawyers and funding too and couldn’t wait to get them in front of a judge for the discovery process. A very in depth and wide ranging discovery process.
Shockingly, their trip was canceled and the SCLDF went quietly into the night.
Standard fare for the dishonest control-freak ecotards, stupid hypocrites.
Bravo !!!
I thought your name looked familiar.
Then you also know how very much I just LOVE environmentalists ;)
Ah the good old days...
Me likey. Funny how they sometimes back off when someone stands up to them and doesn’t allow them to “bossed” around and bullied.
We were absolutely brutal with them. And they did not like it a bit. One of the animal rights groups followed us around at an event, took pics and posted them on line. My pic, the owners Hawaii address. Posted a wanted poster and said it would be sad if I/we got harassed. Wonder why they never found me there. ;) They aren’t very bright.
It wasn’t an idle threat on our part. At that time, we had lawyers and the money for a court case. And our owner was quite anti Sierra Club. And rich.
Sometimes when you know your ducks are lined up it’s kinda fun to tell “them” to “Bring it on dipsticks!”
They knew we were not bluffing. We had already smacked one of their front groups pretty good.

And we were more than willing to do it again.
to be honest though, the biggest problem was our supposedly own ‘base’. Sound familiar? We probably got as much grief from ‘moderate’ OHV enthusiasts that wanted to ‘just get along’ with the greens. Hoping of course the alligator ate them last.
You can see in the current news about all the land closures how well that worked out for them.
