A teenage stowaway who survived a five-hour flight to Hawaii in the landing gear of an airplane wont face federal charges, officials said Monday. He apparently didnt even know where the flight was going. This was not something he planned out, said Special Agent Tom Simon, an FBI spokesman in Honolulu. My impression is that he ran for the first flight he saw. The 16-year-old was running away from his home in Santa Clara, Calif., and scaled a perimeter fence at San Jose International Airport early Sunday before entering a wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 767, authorities said. In skipping charges, agents may have decided the boy has suffered enough. The wheel well of the jet is not pressurized or heated, meaning the teen possibly endured extremely thin air and temperatures as low as 80 degrees below zero when the plane cruised at 38,000 feet.

I still believe this is a hoax. There is no way he could have survived 5 1/2 hours at 38,000 unpressurized, -80 degree feet.
He was 38,000 feet above water, and nowhere near land.
He boarded at 38,000 feet?
Details, details. Quit poking holes in a perfectly good loophole!
must be nice to break in federal facility and not charged,,,
is he a ‘son of Øbama’ ?
I’m with you on this. He is not being charged because the truth would come out that he made it into the cargo hold. The FBI has undoubtedly told him if he makes any statements to the press he will be charged, tried and imprisoned.
I’m right with you. At -50/-80, he would at least have significant frostbite to fingers, toes, ears, nose and eyelids.
That low of a air pressure would cause lung damage.
Lack of oxygen for 5 1/2 hours = Brain Damage.
I’d be interested if there was a access panel to the hold in the wheel well.
I think he hopped in the cargo hold.
Do you even have to ask?
They will swallow unquestioningly anything the State tells them.
Imagine the negative effect the truth would have on air flights if it was shown that TSA cannot protect the planes on the ground.
It would be one more high profile example of the total ineptitude of a ridiculously expensive government.
NIAGARA FALLS! Slowly.....I.....turned.....step.....by.....step.......inch.....by.....inch........
What if he was wearing a hoodie?
Yep!

I think TSA is a program to socially engineer the population to calmly accept lost of our individual rights. It is doing a great job. Protecting us against their sponsored terrorists too.
At 25.000 feet you will collapse and death is imminent unless oxygen is restored.
I suspect cases where people have survived extended trips in wheel wells were below the altitude claimed in this story.
