Thanks for spelling it out. So many don't get the difference between a "Constitutional Convention" and a "Convention of States".

As you said if 34 States propose such a State Convention with specific Amendments that can't be added to or amended, then I'm for it. Unfortunately, it will never get that far, much less 38 States ratifying such.

However, I like the idea of scaring/pressuring career politicians. Get enough States involved, who knows what kind of discussion could come of it. I believe it would be a positive and even the most low info voter would pay attention to the debates.

O, I tend to doubt they would maintain the status quo.

Please remember that even the crap states with the huge welfare dependent populations that screw up national elections through fraud ... even these liberal hellholes ... have state legislatures with many good people from the non-urban districts, you know where the downtrodden American white minority lives?

That is sort of why the founders wanted Senators chosen by legislators, anyway. The Senator screws up, the state legislator has to face the wrathful betrayed voter very soon. Let's get on this. Things could not be worse in a banana republic what ain't got no bananas.

The Feds just would not be able to resist meddling in a CC. And we all know how Libs love to throw things in just to confuse people (things written so a "yes" vote actually means "no", etc).

No doubt. THE only way I see back is through massive civil and State disobedience. Unfortunately, that would take a Ronald Reagan type communicator to coalesce the right with the moderates and maybe even some Reagan type Dims. Maybe Ted Cruz?

The low information voters won't pay attention, but if enough informed on both political sides got behind such a movement, then just maybe we would see some results. Keep in mind how the grassroots TEA Party has changed the political landscape.

Many States are now fighting against Fedgov largess. I read every day about States working to change their own Constitution to re-establish their sovereignty...a few are even talking about succession. Of course that won't happen, but anti-Fedgov talk is increasing by the day. Even some hard core Dims are talking against Obama's over-reaching power.

Disobedience against Fedgov, especially Executive Orders, and erroneous un-Constitutional rulings by the Supreme Court is the way back. Think how a few cowboys on horses stopped the Feds during the Bundy episode.

You're not getting the difference between a Constitutional Convention by Congress and a State Convention, that is limited to certain Amendments that the 34 States agree upon.

It won't happen, but I'd love to see at least 20 States agree on a "term limits" specific convention. Think how that would scare our career politicians in DC. I would have to stock up on gallons of popcorn just to watch those asshats talk all day long about "unfair; best to have experienced politicians in DC; blah, blah, blah".

God forbid they actually have to leave and get a real job after 2 terms. But then, being the power-mongers they are, they'd probably become lobbyists or run for some other office. Still, it would be an improvement in my thinking - new blood like the TEA Party.

I have felt for some time, that the battle against Federal overreach is now up to the States. They are our last line of defense against Fedzilla. I am encouraged that they are moving toward their constitutional duty to push back.

I pray that they will be successful. Grass roots constitutionalists getting into the trenches as chairperson of their local committees could go a long way toward helping. It only costs about 10 bucks to register to be on the ballot.

Nearly half of these positions had no filings in 2012. These positions get to vote on leadership of the party. I say get constitutionalists into these positions as a start toward helping the states.
