Those two lies were profoundly significant because they were designed to hide the truth about how Obamacare would affect the daily lives and health of hundreds of millions of Americans.

Misses the point. The lies served to advance a law that became extremely unpopular when it's true ramifications became known. Had he not lied, and lied multiple times about its impact, it would never have passed. That is much worse than simply "hiding the truth," as the article states.

The parents of any small child will tell you there are different kinds of lies, and lying to get one's way is up there on the "pretty bad" list.
