The rifle depicted in the article is a .22 LR M&P rifle. You can tell because each of the magazines has an opening for a slide button that allows you to depress the follower while loading the magazine. I know because I have a S&W .22 LR S&P rifle with the same feature and have looked at other brands, all of which have the same feature. BTW, the Smith is a great little rifle.

That photo is a professional photo, probably taken by the manfucturer. It wasn't taken by the cops.
I sincerely doubt that that photo has anything to do with the story, other than being a scary-looking rifle.
The photo isn't captioned saying it's the rifle in question, is it?
