A New Muslim Renaissance is Here
TIME ^ | April 16, 2014 | by Rabia Chaudry

History is witness to a time past when the Islamic civilization produced globally unparallelled architecture, literature, science, philosophy, theological discourse, and cultural influences – influences so strong it made European nobles want to dress like Muslims. Critics of Islam and Muslims scoff at this romanticism, asserting that Muslims have not produced anything great since the Middle Ages and most likely will never again. The inherent bigotry and even fallacy of that argument aside, for those critics I have to say, look out, a new Muslim renaissance is upon us.

In the midst of growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the US since 9/11, or perhaps thanks to it, this generation of Muslims is abandoning the traditional professions expected from immigrant parents (doctors, engineers, business people) and entering fields we all once thought were closed to us. The last decade has seen a steady and sure emergence of American Muslims as artists, writers, performers, activists, media personalities and intellectuals (on a global scale Muslims rank as top intellectuals). Inside the DC beltway you see evidence of this shift as well. Young American Muslims are working in national security, public diplomacy, foreign policy, politics – we have our share of hacks and wonks now too.

Actually the Renaissance in Europe involved the resurgence in growth and learning that tempered the rigid shackles of the Roman Catholic Church. It involved the church but the growth in learning led to the exploration of the world and an explosion of business and trade.

The narrow religious bindings of which you speak were broken allowing expansion and growth of life. It was a Renaissance....

The buildings and resurgence in Dubai is like that in Florence, Venice and Rome hundreds of years ago.

Of course it is relevant. Just like in the past the missies can do NOTHING of their own accord. They MUST have outside help or they will merely blow away with the sand of the desert.

You may think you are having a great tome there because you earn big bucks and get treated like you are very special.

You are delusional. You are helping the enemies of not only the US but all of Christendom. Better you should go to North Dakota ad work there.

How many churches with towering spires and crosses on top have you helped build there??? None of course

One can check the list of all the Novel laureates in hisotry to see how many are moslems. One for literature, one for chemistry, one for physics.

Out of a populkation of a billion people.

I must have missed the breaking of the narrow religious
bindings of Islam...

Anything pertaining to Islam is nothing to laugh about when one realizes the rapid spread of this evil cult in our country.

Perhaps we need to post some photos of a modern Afghanistan in the 1950s and 60s and then compare those photos with the same places today.

You will see how a modern nation can slide back into the DARK AGES in just a few years.

You know nothing of those that do not follow Usama Bin Ladin and his ilk. They exist simply because as fundamentalists they oppose, resist, can’t tolerate the Renaissance that is in progress.

I know you will never agree simply because your mind is closed to the possibility it could be wrong.

And how much of that has western know how and labor doing it? These so called projects are oil production which not only came from the west but is sustained and furthered by western engineers and builders

And the Moslems that have an engineering degree most likely went to school here in the US or in the UK.

There is growth and immigration from the east into the Gulf

Yeah, mostly Pakis, Indonesians, and Filipinos -- servants and slaves for the oil royalty. Once the crude dries up, those cities will crumble and the desert will take over once again.

If there is any renaissance in the muslime world, it is DESPITE that foul "religion," not because of it.

You are truly delusional. There is nothing similar to the building in the middle east and the past Renaissance in Europe.

There are differences between Christianity and Islam that are too profound for me to swallow.
1. Allah is alone. God is the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

2. Allah is merciful and compassionate, as our Father is, but our Father is also a loving father. In fact God IS love. Allah is NOT love.

3. Allah and people have a master-slave relationship. "Abdullah" is a VERY common Arab name. It means "slave of Allah." Christians have a father-child relationship, with a most loving Father.

4. Heaven, for Islam, is full of "houris," that is, for men and their lust. Christian heaven is unity with God.

5. Islam has no purgatory. Catholicism does. Thank you, Lord!

6. Islam has no savior, no communion, confession, penance whereas in Christianity we can know our savior and pray to Him. We can confess our sins, get absolution, do penance and consume the Body and Blood our our Savior.

7. Christians have a plethora of prayers and especially the one Jesus gave us: OUR FATHER...
Muslims have the "There is no God but Allah..." and that's it.

8. The Muslims have the Koran which is a KNOCK-OFF of the Bible. Miriam is Mary and Issa is Jesus.
*My husband got a Koran as a gift from one of the ARAMCO Saudis. It was the ONLY gift contractors could give ARAMCONS. It cut off ALL bribery.

I could go one but I think I've made my point.

============================
**In Saudi Arabia the name Issa is used a lot, stores, cookie brands, etc. VERY weird. It's not viewed as derogatory at all but just plain weird. Muslims consider Jesus a VERY special man who did nothing but good things...NOT the Son of God, however.

***My husband and I worked and lived in the Kingdom, working with Saudis, for five years. They really are just plain, ordinary Joe Schomoes from Kokomo, however, as my husband pointed out "They think differently. Their logic is middle eastern and different from ours." An understatement.

****My boss was the nicest, kindest, most humble man I had ever met. He had never learned to read or write as the Saudis had always 99% illiteracy. (There were no trees, thus no paper.) But as boss he had to have much information at hand...so he memorized. He could remember 15 tasks that he had to do that day. He made up for what he didn't get as a child.

=============================

Thanks for posting, MuaaaDIB!

Tell me...how many churches and synagogues are there? Tell me how many women are allowed to walk around with out escorts who must be family members?
Not too mention, any gay bars in Dubai? Any members of GLAAD living there, making sure muzzie owned bakeries are willing to cheerfully accommodate gay weddings, and filing civil rights lawsuits against those who refuse?

“100 years from now the whole middle east will lie in ruins....”

.
And its population will have emigrated to the West to do the same what it has done to their own countries.

Islam rested upon the shoulders of higher civilization until it broke them down. It took a while, but not long, for the inherent ignorance of Islam to destroy the remnants of the civilizations it infected. Islam hasn’t produced anything of value, solely because of its virtues, because it has none.

Islam is death, and it will never be anything but death.

Besides some building projects, enlighten us with other notable achievements in the arts and sciences that would constitute a Renaissance?

exactly.

the Africans have done the same with the former colonies there.

It takes awhile and is only noticeable over a long period of time, but eventually the infrastructure that was built prior to their conquest starts to decay and without the ability or willingness to repair/replace it they whole society crumbles back into the dust.
