Much of Finland didn’t belong to Russia either back then. Time to give the pre-Russo/Finnish War territories back then, eh, Vlad?
And Seward took the Czar to the cleaners with the Alaska swindle.

To make things straight all the Finland was part of Russia ‘back then’.
I believe it was never an independent nation prior to 1918. Just like Ukraine, Finland is a product of communist takeover of Russian Empire and quite an artifical nation.
On the other hand, Finns did a good job in establishing their identity as a nation since breakaway and noone in a sane mind would argue that their independence is well deserved.
BTW, Finnish policies towards Russia is a perfect example to follow for the rest of Russian breakaway territories.
It is a well-performing free first world country right on the Russian border and somehow Russians allows it to thrive.
Wonder why?
